Storyline

ROYAL PAINS centers on a young E.R. doctor who, after being wrongly blamed for a patient's death, moves to the Hamptons and becomes the reluctant "doctor for hire" to the rich and famous. When the attractive administrator of the local hospital asks him to treat the town's less fortunate, he finds himself walking the line between doing well for himself and doing good for others. Trivia

Reshma Shetty (Divya) is married to fellow actor Deep Katdare, and the last name of Divya's character on the show is Katdare. Deep Katdare also executive produced and acted in a movie, Hiding Divya (2006), which premiered three years before the premiere of Royal Pains (2009). Thus, both the first and last names of Resma Shetty's character on the show, Divya Katdare, are either a reference, or a tribute, to Shetty's real life husband. See more »

Great non-violent TV
24 February 2011 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Perfect fantasy show about how we'd all like the world to be. It's an "Ozzie and Harriet", "Bonanza" or "Waltons" for the 21st Century.

We have too much "reality" and "shoot-em-dead" TV already. This little show is an antidote to that sort of violence.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to stay balanced in a violent world filled with violent TV.

The setting in the Hamptons is something most of us will never experience, but that's okay. It's something we all could get used to very quickly.

The doctor in the series is exactly who we'd love to have for our personal physician (hey, he makes house calls!)
