The rifle used by The Soldier is an authentic decommissioned 1944 German Mauser.
The Soldier was produced in 46 hours (total) for the 2 days later film challenge. The film's budget was approx. £500.
When production began, Shaun Robert Smith and his team started the make-up effects on the 'projector room zombie'. Only when they finished, the actor playing the zombie realized he was allergic to latex. The team had to start again putting them 3 hours behind.
Assistant director Claire Wheatley created the ending when the production ran out of time on the first day of filming.
The second part of the film was set in a disease research facility but was filmed on the first day. The location used was an abandoned foundry in Derbyshire, England.
