Survivor Series 2008 was a pretty disappointing PPV and possibly WWE's worst of the year. The PPV looked interesting with multiple traditional 5 on 5 elimination matches and the return of John Cena, but what killed the show was this dumb WWE angle where Jeff Hardy was found passed out in his hotel room. Did WWE not remember when this ACTUALLY happened to Eddie Guerrero and Mr. Perfect? Simply insensitive.1.Traditional 5 on 5 Elimination Tag Match: Shawn Michaels, Cryme Tyme, Rey Mysterio, and The Great Khali vs. JBL, The Miz, John Morrison, Kane, and MVP This opener was a fun little match. Some questionable booking but watchable. JTG is eliminated first by MVP, who is then hit with a Brain Chop from Khali and MVP is out. Kane and Khali had a little battle for 1 or 2 minutes before Mysterio hits Kane with a splash from Khali's shoulders. Kane was really wasted here. Shad was eliminated shortly afterward with a Reality Check from Miz. We then had Miz vs. HBK and Miz vs. Rey for a few minutes before Rey gives him the boot. Some good action for a few more minutes before JBL and HBK brawl outside the ring leading to JBL getting counted out. Michaels then hits Sweet Chin Music on Morrison for the win. Decent opener, not too bad. 6.5/10.2.Divas Traditional 5 on 5 Elimination Tag Match: Beth, Mickie, Candice, Jilian, and Kelly Kelly vs. Michelle McCool, Natalya, Victoria, Maria, and Maryse This Divas match was atrocious. The divas who could actually wrestle such as Mickie, Michelle, Natalya, and Victoria were thrown away early. The match centered around Maryse, Candice, and Beth. Eventually Beth is the sole survivor. This match was booked so poorly words cannot explain. 3/10.3.Casket Match: Big Show vs. Undertaker This was a pretty bad match. They really rushed through everything and the last few minutes or so came off very weak. They started off brawling outside the ring, and Taker hits a leg drop through the ECW announcer's table. They go back in the ring and each does their big power moves. They were trying to work a story in the match that Big Show was afraid of the casket. He eventually tips over the casket and tries to walk out on the match, but then fire appears and druids come out with a second casket. Undertaker and Big Show brawl up the entrance ramp until Taker Irish whips him into the vertically standing up casket and it falls over and closes. Taker wins a poor bout. 4/10.4.Traditional 5 on 5 Elimination Tag Match: Batista, CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, Matt Hardy, and R-Truth vs. Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, William Regal, Shelton Benjamin, and Mark Henry For one reason or another this match came off as lackluster. Regal gets eliminated right after the bell rings after a GTS from Punk. Afterwards, R-Truth and Shelton Benjamin had a fast paced battle that ended with Shelton hitting the Paydirt for the elimination. Kofi has a good battle with Shelton as well until Orton comes in and completely dismantles him. Punk is later eliminated after a DDT from Rhodes, and Hardy is out after a slam from Henry. Batista is left all alone. He takes out Henry with a spear and Shelton with a Batista Bomb. Then, just when he gets set to Batista Bomb Cody, Orton makes a tag and sneakily RKOs him for the win. The match was just simply not as good as it could have been. 6/10.5.WWE Championship: Triple H(c) vs. Vladimir Kozlov vs. Edge As I mentioned earlier, WWE worked this stupid angle and Jeff Hardy was unable to compete. So Kozlov and Triple H preceded to have a god awful singles match. The fans were displeased and loudly chanted, "Boring" and "We want Hardy". Eventually Vickie comes out to say that "He" is here. Well, "He" ends up being Edge, a late entrant into the match. He spears Triple H, but Hardy then comes out to beat down Edge. Hardy grabs a chair and knocks out Kozlov and Triple H, but is speared by Edge. Edge covers Triple H for the win and the WWE Championship. Edge and Hardy saved this crap fest. 2/10.6.World Heavyweight Championship: Chris Jericho(c) vs. John Cena Cena makes his big return from his Summerslam injury to face Jericho for the World Heavyweight Championship. They had a nice match here. Cena clearly isn't 100% which hurt the match. Jericho controlled the majority of the middle of the match, applying the Walls of Jericho to weaken Cena while also focusing on the injured neck. Jericho at one point kicked out after an FU, while Cena kicked out after a Codebreaker. Eventually Jericho tries to reverse the STFU into a small package, but Cena picks him up for an FU and the championship. It was a good match but not as good as it was built up to be. 6.5/10
