Was bored to tears.

I love Gordon Ramsay, but wow this was about the most boring show imaginable, it's such a shame. It just didn't work on any level, The BBC have really fine for it with the gameshows this year, you can't fault the effort, but this just didn't work.

Maybe it needed to be on after the watershed, to allow Ramsay's full personality to come out. Ultimately this did nothing for Ramsay, and as a viewer I was bored to tears.

Big fan of Ramsay

Sadly I doubt this show will make it to end of season

I admire him for wanting to try different things, and so far he pretty much nailed it. But this is garbage..., and he is clearly not a game show host! So many of his harsh words in previous shows that would accurate describe this "dish".

Who allowed this to happen??

This show was so boring, even the contestants seem in a daze. Whoever allowed this show to get this far should reconsider their career path a bit, and Gordon Ramsay really should stick to what he has proven to be very good at... food shows.

Truly dreadful

Too bad to watch. Let Gordon get back to the kitchen, that is where he belongs. This should never have been made, and the contestants are too stupid to breathe air.

Enjoy Ramsay's cookery shows - that's what he needs to stick to...

I'm not the biggest fan of quiz shows to start with. This is painful. Did COVID mean they couldn't do any consumer testing? Granted at least I've made myself watch an episode (as I like Ramsay's cookery programs). I don't think it would make any odds who presented this, it's so dull.

Overly complicated, far and away too much waffle back and forth, annoying contestants and Ramsay at the helm. What's to like??

Possibly the most boring game show ever devised. I was falling asleep. How did this get green lit ? Was the pitch blah blah blah blah blah "Gordon Ramsey" blah blah. Then the BBC said "Gordon Ramsey? We're in. A show so dull it only deserves this boring and short review.

Even Jermaine Jenas and Alex Scott would turn this down!
studioAT1 March 2021
The BBC have coped pretty well during the pandemic- producing a steady steam of decent - excellent programmes. They managed to keep 'Strictly' on as well without much of a hiccup, which is more than ITV have done with 'Dancing on Ice'.

Their Kryptonite though has been new game shows, an area ITV do have the upper hand in.

First there was 'The Wheel', a terrible format fronted by someone pretending to be a game show host, and now we have virtually the same thing again with 'Bank Balance'.

Who on Earth came up with this format? Who on Earth thought that Gordon Ramsey was the best host for it? Were the Corporations favourite up and coming stars in Alex Scott and Jermaine Jenas both busy?

File this next to 'Pooch Perfect' as the worst Beeb programme during the pandemic.

Decent gameshow with an interesting gimmick
towers-362857 March 2021
First of all I'd like to point out that I'm baffled at the people rating the show badly because they can't follow the rules. The game is incredibly simple to follow, unless you're a bit thick.

There's a numbered balance board in the middle of the studio, the computer will pick a number, this is where the contestants will need to balance there gold bars. With every round the contestants choose a category and chose how many gold bars, the more gold bars the more money but it also means a harder question and more weight on the board. Should they get the answer wrong then the gold bars are replaced with forfeits, worth nothing to the prize value but adding weight to the board. If the gold bars remain on the board by the end of the game then you've won that ammount. Should the bars fall then your game is over.

Simple to follow and easy to watch.

Like watching unedited pilot episode-Drivel- povity pitting
allanmichael301 March 2021
It is bad Morally with little chance of winning just like "The wall Game Show" and had contestants on first program that, forgot they were on t.v shoulting at each other like children in street slang, It clearly designed to poke fun at poor people, as they belive they have money, only for the cash to be taken away. It was badley disignned to make contestants belive they could complete game only for all the cash to be taken away. They should make Gordon play with his own money and see if he could win.

DON'T TAKE IT SO SERIOUSLY
I stand by my 8/10. This show is great brain mush. It's not designed to be anything else. If watching Gordon Ramsay get more passive aggressive with the general public doesn't sound like your idea of fun this show isn't for you.

Now, I'll be fair and give some propper 'review.' As a fan of quiz shows, I enjoy getting to see more personality out of the contentents. The premise is solid, set up so that you can't have too set of a plan, but theres a degree of strategy.

I'm enjoying it, if you didn't I can understand why. There's not much too the show, it's just nice brain-mush

Feels like a series long pilot.
christaylor-9562416 March 2021
The premise is solid, stacking gold bars on a precarious board while Gordon Ramsay tries to antagonize and psych out the stressed contestants.

But every element in the show doesnt hold up (much like the board). The rules of the game are way to convoluted and although you can get a sense of it eventually, it seems even the contestants get confused, or just plain forget what they're doing.

I honestly wonder if they told the contestants the rules ten minutes before they go on. Any sensible person would realise, if you have to put every stack on the board over the course of game, you should NEVER put a small stack on the safest spots on the board. Because all that means is you've forced a large stack to go in the worst space for it. Yet I was amazed how many teams made baffling choices that defied logic, and how many times a contestant would get a correct answer and forget they then had to place a stack, wasting valuable seconds, all while Gordon is shouting "Quick! Place a stack!" If enough contestants are forgetting what the rules are, something has gone very wrong somewhere. And I'm not going to be one of those jerks who blame 'stupid' contestants, I think the show was just poorly explained to its participants.

The biggest let down though is Gordon himself. I love his other shows but he is not good here. A great host can make or break a game show but Gordon feels like the key selling point of the show, but also a complete waste at the same time. I assume they were going for a 'rile up the teams, make them feel stupid' kind of thing. Like Anne Robinson perhaps. This would make sense given his character. But it feels half hearted. Merely telling contestants to make faster decisions, or an odd chuckle here and there. Even if he went full Gordon it dont think it would work either. This show is 'Contestants VS Board', not 'Contestants VS Board and host'. This needs a host who appears on the player's side, like Bradley Walsh.

Add to that you have WAY too much chat between questions which ruins the pacing.

The show is trying desperately to have this, intense, on the edge of your seat feel. But with confused contestants, bad pacing and a host who feels out of place, this show needs some serious reworking should a second season ever get greenlit.

OMG unbelievably bad
meyoumoki25 February 2021
I am sort of getting sick of so called celebrity 'Chefs' getting involved in almost every genre you can come up with. Ramsay in particular has made his name being the most obnoxious person on TV. For some reason the production companies see fit to offer these people anything to stay in the public's eye. Ok that said this new venture of 'Celebrity Chef Ramsay' is just, in one word 'dire' He has done stuff to his face which scares kids. Place a pic of Frankenstein to see the likeness. What on earth has he done? Why do these people think that they can improve their looks? Anyway the show itself is utter dribble. Really if anyone likes this show then a lobotomy is in order. Gordon you will do your own status a lot of good if you stay off the TV for perhaps a year and only come back to create some serious dishes. Everything else is not working for you. Oh and get some reverse engineering on your face done

I'm embarrassed for who ever had anything to do with this show. Like many others who rated, I love Gordon Ramsay. I could see him transitioning from his cooking shows to something else but this is not it!!!! It's truly awful. Also I really wish he'd learn some different adjectives 🤷‍♀️

The tv show is still awful, but a 1 is a bit much. It can be unbearably painful to watch with morons on it, but overall it's not toobad.
