Plenty of unpleasantness, great start.

When did the General die? As is mentioned, the setting is like something out of an old comic book sketch, how and why did the old General die, and why didn't anyone notice?

This is an engrossing mystery, with some pretty huge characters, a rather macabre death, and a tantalising mystery, can two people die within hours, and there be no involvement by any wrong doers?

Carmichael always is a joy as Wimsey, Derek Newark is great as Bunter, Donald Pickering had a voice I could have listened to for hours, he was great. John Quentin was very theatrical as George, his outburst verges on hysterical, so it's a good performance.

Extraordinary production values, it's a very sumptuous production. I love the line 'whole country's going to the bloody bow wows.'

Great start to an engrossing mystery. 9/10
