I was a child when the Black Brigand and his men thundered onto our black and white television in Middlesbrough, my Brothers and Sisters were as captivated as I was, we watched the exploits of the Brigand and his men also the theme tune was catchy. Of course looking back on the series I realise it is a simple tale of good versus evil but there was no sophistication back then like there is now and no hidden messages either, in short it was a good watch for children. I learned that for some unknown reason the BBC had deleted a lot of early series by re-using the tapes by overwriting them, they lost the original gem, 'Sykes and the car", by this method and I would suspect the Philistines at the BBC also lost the Black Brigand by over writing, a big shame !
