The Booths invite the Reynolds round for a friendly drink, but it is not long before Eddie falls into his own ways by openly insulting Bill. He says he is tracing his ancestors, believing that he is descended from Royal stock. Sensing a chance to play a practical joke, Bill fakes a note on the back of an oil painting. Eddie is confirmed in his belief that he has blue blood. Dozing off, he dreams about medieval times in which he is 'Sir Edward', Nobby a 'Henry VIII' type, Jacko is a jester, and Bill is 'Sir N##-N##'. A jousting contest between the men takes place...
The U.S. mini-series 'Roots' had not yet been made when this went out. The notion of the main character dreaming about the past was also used in 'On The Buses' final season - 'On The Omnibuses', though here the dream takes up far less of the episode.
Funniest moment - 'Sir Edward' being given his new bride. Not 'Lady Joan' whom he had hoped for, but 'Lady Grizelda', played by none other than Rita Webb from 'The Benny Hill Show'!
