Famed host Carlos Ferrer is sentenced to two years and one day of prison for an unfortunate joke against religious feelings. In his first days in prison, he meets the people he'll have to interact with for the next few months.
Carlos is being bullied by El Rubio, a dangerous prisoner who did not take Carlos' joke well. Meanwhile, Adolfo schemes for an inmate who is soon to be released to stay for worry that he won't know how to redo his life.
Carlos wants to kick out an inmate from the prison's upcoming Hamlet performance, but can't just do so in fear he'll want to retaliate. Along with Adolfo, he plans to make him test positive in a drug test so he'll be forced out.
When Carlos finds out that his replacement host, Juanra Bonet, told the joke that he had been saving for an historical moment of his game show for years, the prison recreates the game show so that Carlos can get to tell the joke.
Carlos sees a chance to obtain a pardon by assisting the funeral of an uncle of Verónica's, The problem is that it coincides with the Hamlet performance, and Carlos will have to choose between his freedom and his cellmates.
As Carlos and his cellmates prepare for the Hamlet performance, Carlos is told that he will be pardoned if he apologizes for the joke after the play. Both, however, are in jeopardy after he incidentally gets dragged into a prison break.
