‘Liberal Arts’ starring Elizabeth Olsen and Richard Jenkins – trailer review

Liberal Arts

Directed by: Josh Radnor

Starring: Josh Radnor, Elizabeth Olsen, Richard Jenkins

Rating: Not Yet Rated

Release Date: September 14, 2012

Trailer Score: 8/10

Thoughts by Tsr: I don’t watch the show anymore, but I always found Ted Mosby to be the least interesting part of “How I Met Your Mother.” Josh Radnor is likable enough; he just couldn’t compete with the likes of Neil Patrick Harris and Jason Segel. Luckily, it would seem his true talents lie elsewhere. 2010’s happythankyoumoreplease was a decent first film for Radnor, but there was definite room for growth. That film showed he had talent writing and directing. This trailer for Liberal Arts makes it seem like he might start capitalizing on it right away.

This could run the risk of getting preachy if it continuously doles out life lessons, but in trailer form I’m mostly won over. Radnor assembled another great cast,

DVD Release: Hart of Dixie Season 1

Blu-ray & DVD Release Date: Oct. 2, 2012

Price: DVD $59.98

Studio: Warner Home Video

The CW’s Hart of Dixie is a comedic fish-out-of-water TV show with plenty of romance and drama and the lovely Rachel Bilson (Waiting for Forever) as the star.

Bilson plays Dr. Zoe Hart (get it?), a surgeon in New York who unexpectedly finds herself working as a general practitioner in the tiny town of BlueBell, Alabama, after she’s turned down for a prestigious fellowship she had been sure to get. Like in all good big-city-girl-in-small-town stories, the change helps Bilson’s Hart become a better doctor and a better person, and love might not be far away.

In the television series’ season 1, the New York girl accidentally crashes the Mayor’s float in the Founder’s Day Parade, causes a stir with shocking news about the local minister and his wife, hits a ghost with her car

On The Road: Another The Motorcycle Diaries, Central Station?

Viggo Mortensen: fictionalized William S. Burroughs, On the Road On The Road: Box-Office/Oscar Chances Pt.1 Could Walter SallesOn the Road buck the IFC Films box-office and awards-season trend? Theoretically, it could. When it comes to North American audiences, Kristen Stewart (who has Snow White and the Huntsman and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 coming out) and Tron: Legacy‘s Garrett Hedlund (to be seen in Joel Coen and Ethan Coen’s Inside Llewyn Davis) have larger followings than IFC Films stars like, say, Juliette Binoche, Mathieu Amalric, Patricia Clarkson, Catherine Deneuve, Anamaria Marinca, Stockard Channing, Benicio Del Toro, or Diego Luna. As a plus, the Jack Kerouac / Walter Salles / Kristen Stewart / Garrett Hedlund combo will likely prove irresistible to more than a few moviegoers. (Not to mention supporting performances by Spider-Man‘s Kirsten Dunst, The Lord of the Rings movies’ Viggo Mortensen, and the upcoming

Kristen Stewart/Garrett Hedlund/On The Road Gets Us Distributor

Kristen Stewart dancing, On the Road On the Road, Walter Salles‘ film adaptation of Jack Kerouac‘s novel, has finally found a U.S. distributor. AMC Networks, which owns IFC Films and Sundance Selects, has purchased the North American distribution rights to the Palme d’Or contender starring Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, and Kristen Stewart. As per Variety, the On the Road price tag was "in the low seven figures." The Variety report also states that "multiple people who have seen the film agreed that it contains awards-caliber performances and cinematography, but add that its two-hours-plus length and nebulous narrative will make it a challenge to market to mainstream [audiences]." In addition to Kristen Stewart, best known for the Twilight movies, Tron: Legacy‘s Garrett Hedlund, and Control‘s Sam Riley, On the Road features Spider-Man‘s Kirsten Dunst, Man of Steel’s Amy Adams, A Dangerous Method’s Viggo Mortensen

Rachel Bilson understands co-star romances

Rachel Bilson believes it is 'natural' for actors to date their co-stars. The 'Waiting For Forever' star met her boyfriend of five years Hayden Christensen on the set of 2007 movie 'Jumper', and she thinks it's a normal occurrence to embark on a relationship with someone who you meet through work. She said: 'Dating co-stars is natural. When you're working with someone, it's habit. I met my man at work. I'm attracted to mysterious men. Every woman can relate to that, right?' But Rachel - who also dated her 'O.C.' co-star Adam Brody for three years before they split in 2006 - admits she doesn't play by the rules when she is in a relationship because she prefers

Kristen Stewart: Cali No Longer a Rumor

Kristen Stewart: Cali next? Above, Stewart in Snow White and the Huntsman Kristen Stewart is set to star in Cali, written and co-produced by 30 Minutes or Less‘ Michael Diliberti. Previously only an unsourced rumor, this time around, the news about Kristen Stewart-Cali comes from Variety’s Jeff Sneider, who describes Cali as a "gritty action pic" set in Los Angeles. Voltage Productions and New School Media will handle the independently made film. Diliberti’s screenplay tells the story of a young San Fernando Valley couple, Mya (Stewart) and Chris, who enjoy living dangerously. They sell a fake snuff film (explicit mix or sex and murder) and leave town, but Mya has to return to Los Angeles to rescue her younger sister and deal with "angry former business partners, homicidal porn stars, stoner vet techs, an unstoppable killing machine in a cowboy hat and their own contentious relationship.

Danny Morgan On The Road Poster

Danny Morgan as Ed Dunkel, On the Road poster It turns out that Kirsten Dunst’s On the Road character poster wasn’t the last one for us at Alt Film Guide. Above you can see Danny Morgan as Big Ed Dunkel, a character based on Albert C. Hinkle. Hinkle himself unveiled the poster on his Facebook page earlier today, adding (in a reply to Morgan’s wife), "I am honored to be portrayed by [Danny Morgan]. Can’t wait to see the movie!" Directed by Central Station / The Motorcycle DiariesWalter Salles, On the Road stars Snow White and the Huntsman / The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2’s Kristen Stewart as Marylou (LuAnne Henderson), Control / Byzantium’s Sam Riley as Sal Paradise (Jack Kerouac), and Tron: Legacy / Inside Llewyn DavisGarrett Hedlund as Dean Moriarty (Neal Cassady). Kirsten Dunst On The Road Poster

Kirsten Dunst/Camille On the Road poster If this isn't an all-out smile, I don't know what is. Those sparkling white teeth and healthy-looking gums belong to Kirsten Dunst. What a world! What a life! What a dentist!. I'm assuming Dunst's is the last On the Road "character" poster we're adding, as every major On the Road character has already gotten his/her poster. Dunst's actually came out before the ones for the film's three leads, Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, and Kristen Stewart. We're just late posting it. In On the Road, Dunst plays Camille, the wife of Dean Moriarty (Hedlund), who leaves her behind to go on the road with the much younger Marylou (Stewart). Camille is based on Carolyn Cassady, the first wife of the sexually adventurous Neal Cassady (Moriarty in the novel/film). Sissy Spacek played Carolyn Cassady in John Byrum's Heart Beat, based on Cassady's 1976 book of memoirs,

Kristen Stewart/Marylou: On The Road Poster

Kristen Stewart as Marylou, On the Road poster Kristen Stewart plays Marylou, Dean Moriarty's girlfriend, in Walter Salles' film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's 1957 novel (actually written in 1951) On the Road. Moriarty is played by Tron: Legacy / Inside Llewyn Davis' Garrett Hedlund. While Dean Moriarty is a fictionalized version of Kerouac's intimate buddy Neal Cassady, Marylou is a representation of Cassady's first wife, LuAnne Henderson. In 1945, the 15-year-old Henderson married Cassady — who had sexual liaisons with both men and women; their marriage was annulled three years later. In addition to Stewart and Garrett Hedlund, On the Road features the following performers: Woman in Love / Brighton Rock's Sam Riley as Sal Paradise (a fictionalized Jack Kerouac), Waiting for Forever / Being Julia's Tom Sturridge as Carlo Marx (Allen Ginsberg), Man of Steel / The Muppets' Amy Adams, Eastern Promises / A History of Violence's Viggo Mortensen, Elysium / I Am Legend's Alice Braga,

Kristen Stewart in Diablo Cody Thanks For Playing, Cali? Hmmm…

Kristen Stewart Kristen Stewart possibly to land the lead in the Diablo Cody-scripted Thanks for Playing? That's what The Tracking Board claimed in an "exclusive" on April 17. The following day, the same site announced — another "exclusive" — that Robert Pattinson was to join David Cronenberg and Viggo Mortensen in Maps to the Stars. Neither article provides any sources. Even so, that hasn't deterred a number of sites and blogs from passing on the information as fact. Unlike Maps to the Stars, a Cronenberg project from six years ago, Thanks for Playing is indeed listed as a Diablo Cody project. However, I could find no information about Kristen Stewart "circling" the project — except from those using The Tracking Board as a source. I also failed to find any info on Stewart having "recently attached herself" to star in Cali, a comedy purportedly (according to the same article) written by 30:Minutes or Less' Michael Diliberti.

Garrett Hedlund/Dean Moriarty On The Road Poster

Garrett Hedlund as Dean Moriarty, On the Road poster "Desirous of everything at the same time," is how Dean Moriarty is described in the latest character poster for Walter Salles' film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's On the Road. That statement can be read in all sorts of ways — at the same time. Tron: Legacy / Inside Llewyn Davis' Garrett Hedlund plays the sensual, live-for-the-moment Moriarty, inspired by Kerouac's intimate buddy Neal Cassady. Married three times — at one point to two different women — Cassady had a two-decade, off-and-on relationship with Allen Ginsberg. (Back in the '50s, Kerouac wanted Marlon Brando as Dean; the sexually conflicted Kerouac was to have played On the Road's other male lead, Sal Paradise, a version of himself.) In addition to Garrett Hedlund, On the Road features the following performers: Woman in Love / Brighton Rock's Sam Riley as Sal, The Twilight Saga:

Sam Riley/Sal Paradise On The Road Poster

Sam Riley, On the Road poster In Walter Salles' On the Road, adapted by José Rivera from Jack Kerouac's iconic novel, Sam Riley plays Sal Paradise, based on Kerouac himself. Kerouac wrote his novel in 1951, though it would be published only in 1957. Around that time, he wanted to play himself in a film version of his book, with Marlon Brando as Dean Moriarty, inspired by Neal Cassady, and brought to life by Tron: Legacy / Georgia Rule's Garrett Hedlund in Salles' movie. In addition to Sam Riley and Garrett Hedlund, On the Road features the following: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 / Snow White and the Huntsman / Welcome to the Rileys' Kristen Stewart, Waiting for Forever / Being Julia's Tom Sturridge, Ideal / Off the Hook's Danny Morgan, Mad Men / Get Him to the Greek's Elisabeth Moss, and The Virgin Suicides / Spider-Man's Kirsten Dunst. Kristen Stewart/Snow White Movie Fairy-Tale Photo

Kristen Stewart's Snow White movie: Snow White and the Huntsman Kristen Stewart is seen above as Snow White in recently released images from Rupert Sanders' Snow White and the Huntsman. Despite the sunny, lush, fairy-tale-ish visual of this particular shot, Snow White and the Huntsman looks and sounds like a dark, fantastical story for adults. Check out the Swath trailer/TV spot. Distributed by Universal, Snow White and the Huntsman opens June 1. Stewart's co-stars are Thor / The Avengers' Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman, Prometheus / Young Adult's Charlize Theron (Best Actress Oscar winner for Monster) as the Evil Queen, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' Sam Claflin as Prince Charming. [See also Beautiful Kristen Stewart photo.] Snow White and the Huntsman's screenplay is credited to Killing Season's Evan Daugherty, The Blind Side / The Rookie's John Lee Hancock, and Drive / The Wings of the Dove's Hossein Amini. Kristen Stewart/Snow White And The Huntsman French Poster

Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth: Snow White and the Huntsman French poster Snow White and the Huntsman is an action film, in case you didn't know. The French poster for Blanche Neige et le Chasseur makes sure you get it. Kristen Stewart's Snow White / Blanche Neige is holding a long knife, Chris Hemsworth's Hunter / le Chasseur is holding both an axe and an adze, and Charlize Theron's Evil Queen / la Méchante Reine is holding the longest, most deadly dagger ever made. The thing is so long and so curved that if she stabs you on the upper torso, the dagger's tip will come out of your big toe. Also note the billing: Although the trailers have mostly focused on the Evil Queen (and The Mirror), Kristen Stewart comes first, followed by Charlize Theron (soon to be seen in Ridley Scott's Prometheus) and Chris Hemsworth

Alice Braga/On The Road: Cutest Little Mexican Girl

Alice Braga, On the Road movie poster Alice Braga plays Terry, described as the "cutest little Mexican girl," in Walter Salles' film version of Jack Kerouac's On the Road. We'll see how the Portuguese-speaking Brazilian Braga will do as a Spanish-speaking Mexican farm laborer (Bea Franco in real life). Among Braga's screen credits are Predators, Repo Men, Cidade Baixa / Lower City, I Am Legend, and Cidade de Deus / City of God. She's also one of the featured players, alongside Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, Diego Luna, and others, in Neill Blomkamp's Elysium. In addition to Alice Braga, On the Road features: Country Strong / Georgia Rule Garrett Hedlund, Byzantium / Control's Sam Riley, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 / Snow White and the Huntsman / Adventureland's Kristen Stewart, Waiting for Forever / Being Julia's Tom Sturridge, Ideal / Off the Hook's Danny Morgan, Mad Men / Get Him to the Greek's Elisabeth Moss,

Elisabeth Moss: Bette Davis Eyes On The Road Poster

Elisabeth Moss, On the Road movie poster "These people are mad," says (I assume) Elisabeth Moss' Galatea Dunkel in Walter Salles' On the Road, to open in France on May 23. Moss looks a little mad herself here, kinda like Bette Davis about to slap Miriam Hopkins in some movie or other. By the way, this is no putdown. This poster offers a great, memorable image of Elisabeth Moss, among whose film credits are Get Him to the Greek, Did You Hear About the Morgans?, and Girl, Interrupted. Moss is also a member of the Mad Men ensemble. In Salles and screenwriter José Rivera's film version of Jack Kerouac's novel, Galatea Dunkel is the wife of Ed Dunkel (Off the Hook / Ideal's Danny Morgan). The Dunkels are based on Helen Hinkle and Al Hinkle, early members of the Beats. In addition to Elisabeth Moss and Danny Morgan,

Amy Adams On The Road Poster

Amy Adams, On the Road poster Three-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams (Junebug / Doubt / The Fighter), looking nothing at all like her fairy-tale princess in Enchanted, is featured on this On the Road poster. [Watch the On the Road trailer.] In director Walter Salles and screenwriter José Rivera's film version of Jack Kerouac's iconic novel, Adams plays Jane, the wife of Old Bull Lee (Viggo Mortensen). Jane and Old Bull Lee stand for, respectively, Joan Vollmer (aka Joan Vollmer Adams) and her common-law husband William S. Burroughs (Naked Lunch). In 1951, a drunken Burroughs shot the 28-year-old Vollmer dead while the couple were living in Mexico. In addition to Amy Adams and Eastern Promises' Viggo Mortensen, On the Road features the following: Tron: Legacy / Inside Llewyn Davis Garrett Hedlund, Byzantium / Woman in Love's Sam Riley, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 / Snow White and the Huntsman's Kristen Stewart, Waiting for Forever / Being Julia's Tom Sturridge,

Charlize Theron/Kristen Stewart Happy Birthday

Charlize Theron wishes Kristen Stewart (photo) a Happy Birthday in the video below. Stewart, one of Theron's co-stars in the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman, turns 22 today. I'm not used to hearing a woman being referred to as "dude" or "man," but perhaps I've been hanging out with the wrong crowd? Stewart's 23rd year (do your math: this is the beginning of her twenty-third year on this planet) will be a busy one on screen. She has three movies coming out: Walter Salles' On the Road (as Mary Lou), Rupert Sanders' aforementioned Snow White and the Huntsman (as Snow White), and Bill Condon's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (as Bella Swan). Snow White comes out on June 1; Breaking Dawn 2 on November 16. On the Road will likely be screened at the Cannes Film Festival; it opens in France on May 23, but it has no Us released date yet.
