The third episode and Maurice gets his menage a trois. Only the threesome ends up being a twosome between his wife and Diana.

Underhill can offer Maurice all he desires. Which for him is sex and more sex, without inhibition. At least Maurice realises the dangers of these kind of things.

Luckily Maurice sees an apparition, a stranger arrives from the other life and gives him a silver crucifix and some orders.

An exorcism could be the answer and get rid of Underhill's malevolence for good. Is the trendy priest Sonnenschein up to such a task?

Finally the spookiness and other worldliness is realised in a low key way. The show delves into ecological folk horror.

That is balanced with some sex comedy. His second wife runs off with the doctor's wife.

In the end the show is more about Maurice and his mid life crisis. He has lost his father, his wife. He is getting older and his health ain't that good.

Maybe Maurice's experience with Underhill was to resolve himself to be a better man before he goes to his grave.

The Green Man was apparently a faithful adaptation but it was not truly supernatural and the effects were not that good. Still Albert Finney made it work with the dark comedy.
