Not a 'Total Recall', but entertaining

Made just after Nicholas Steele's most fertile era at Adam & Eve Productions, "Fantasy Suites" fails to rise to the high standard of his early work but thanks to craftsmanship and a talented cast is rewarding nonetheless.

It falls into a favored genre both in science fiction and porn: escapism via a service that permits the user to realize some personal fantasy. Or in the XXX field, an erotic fantasy.

Steele goes old school by having his individual sex vignettes intercut, so that just like in the days of theatrical porn movies, variety is maintained by intercutting back and forth among two or three sex scenes.

The facility is named Vacatio (loosely translated as freedom) run by Sondra Hall (an underrated beauty from Jill Kelly's talent pool) and Steven St. Croix. Nice sets depict the milieux of the individual fantasies: Randy Spears and Mina playing doctor and nurse in a hospital room; Jake Bryant and Crissy M in a hayloft playing cowboy and cowgirl; as well as lovely lesbians Monica Mayhem and Jesse V in a dungeon doing a BDSM routine.

What's missing here is the music of Saint, which propelled earlier Steele productions to ethereal heights; the okay score for "Fantasy Suites" has no screen credit at all. Cast makes up for this with energetic performances.
