The dragon's head used in "The Ring" was marked with the spelling "Beirut," which is in Lebanon. In those times it probably shipped by train from the maker to the theater location, but the similarity of the sound of the word must have prompted it to be misspelled as "Beirut." This fine opera house still exists, and the town is "Bayreuth." It is pronounced "By-royt." See more »
