Sam Mendes To Direct Bond 23

5 January 2010 7:03 PM, PST | FusedFilm | See recent FusedFilm news »

Well this is the biggest news of 2010, since we are only a few days into the new year. Just a day after many thought the next Bond film would be put on hold it seems that wasn’t true and now it seems that Sam Mendes will direct the next installment of Bond.

This is the first big name director to film a Bond movie since Campbell’s return for Casino Royale. Mendes known for films like Away We Go, American Beauty and Road to Perdition will certainly bring something unique to Bond especially with Peter Morgan’s writing this next Bond may have been worth the wait.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog reported the news this afternoon. Now the film will potentially start as early as June, targeting a 2011 release. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on all the news surrounding Bond 23 as soon as more information comes in. »

2009: A Big Year for Movie Mistakes

5 January 2010 10:35 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

We’ve all seen it before: A soundman’s boom mic dips slightly into frame or an entire camera crew shows up in the reflection of a shiny car window. For as long as there are humans making films, there will inevitably be mistakes in those films. We are, after all, only human (unless of course 10 more years pass and James Cameron figures out a way to change all that).

Personally, I love finding mistakes in movies – and not just the microphone and crew type, either. Mistakes in continuity, timelines and even scenery can sometime run amok in a film. The script supervisor is usually the person responsible for making sure that the character wearing a pink ball cap turned to the left and standing in front of a tall fichus tree in one scene looks exactly the same after the camera cuts away and then back to the actor. »

Sci Fi to Syfy: Syfy Has Its Best Year Ever

2 January 2010 10:50 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

When Dave Howe stepped up to the plate at Sci Fi, took the reigns of the network and started heading them towards their new future, he wanted to expand on the number of markets the network was in, which included the youth market (demographic). Howe was also concerned with replacing their flagship television series, Battlestar Galactica & expanding on Ghost Hunters.

As Syfy rebranded itself, it also took the high road to trying to create improved quality content for the channel. In the fracas of it all, they “repainted” the familiar fun that was Stargate and created Stargate Universe – much to the angst of the core Stargate fans.

In most cases their approach seems to be working… But as with any TV network change, some fans will get left behind as that network attempts to improve or change their overall number of viewers.

First, the Numbers:

The network needs to make money to survive. »
