Cameron Diaz Returns To Raunch As A 'Bad Teacher'

10 December 2009 2:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Cameron Diaz can do sweet romantic comedies like "The Holiday" and tearjerker dramas like "My Sister's Keeper" and even the occasional period piece like "Gangs of New York," but her true calling has always been raunchy comedy. Now, to add to her gross-out work in "There's Something About Mary" and "The Sweetest Thing," the actress will star in Columbia Pictures' "Bad Teacher," according to Variety.

Jake Kasdan, who last gave us "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story," is directing the comedy, about a "foulmouthed, gold-digging middle-school teacher," who battles with another faculty member for dibs on a hot co-worker. The idea of a fought-over "model teacher" makes me imagine "Glee" star Matthew Morrison as the male lead, but that will never happen.

What makes "Bad Teacher" sound more appealing than, say, "What Happens in Vegas?" is that the script was written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, of TV's »

Cameron Diaz Is a Naughty Teacher

10 December 2009 1:44 PM, PST | Fandango | See recent Fandango news »

Remember how funny it was to watch Billy Bob Thornton play a nasty, foul-mouthed Santa in the film Bad Santa? Well, apply that same sort of concept to a middle-school teacher, then throw Cameron Diaz in the role. Variety tells us that Diaz will play a foul-mouthed gold digger in who, after being dumped by her boyfriend, competes against a rival colleague for the affections of the school's model teacher.   The raunchy comedy, which is actually called Bad Teacher, was written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who, apart from writing for The Office and penning the comedy Year One, are the duo assigned to bring back the Ghostbusters for a third installment. And honestly, while a lot of people will probably knock this casting choice, I'm of the opinion that Cameron Diaz is a wayyy...

Cameron Diaz Is Going To Be A 'Bad Teacher'

10 December 2009 6:54 AM, PST | AMC - Script to Screen | See recent AMC - Script to Screen news »

Having done two major dramatic roles this year alone ("The Box" and "My Sister's Keeper") it looks like Cameron Diaz  is going to return to comedy again in the project "Bad Teacher".

Diaz will play the naughty educator in the film that is described as:

"a foul-mouthed seventh grade teacher who is dumped by her sugar daddy and starts to pursue a colleague, which provokes conflict with the school’s model teacher."

The film will be directed by Jake Kasdan ("Walk Hard", "Orange County") with the script written by "The Office" tandem Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who also wrote this year's "Year One".

Cameron Diaz Will Be Your ‘Bad Teacher’

10 December 2009 6:35 AM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

After several failed attempts at drama (The Box comes to mind), Cameron Diaz is going back to the well. Back to the raunchy roots that helped launch her acting career with Columbia Pictures' Bad Teacher. Jake Kasdan (Walk Hard) will direct the flick, which was written by The Office scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupinsky, says Variety. The story follows a foulmouthed, gold-digging middle school teacher who, after getting dumped by her boyfriend, competes with a colleague for the affections of the school's model teacher. We can only hope that Kasdan and Diaz are taking a page out of the Werner Herzog/Nic Cage book of making 'Bad' movies. I would like to see a sinister, drug-addled teacher who is fleecing students for pot and doing coke off the janitor's broom-handle. I doubt that I will get my wish, but check me if I'm wrong when I say that movie would be awesome. Am »

Cameron Diaz is a 'Bad Teacher'

10 December 2009 6:03 AM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

When we first learned that The Office scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky had sold a spec called Bad Teacher, there was -- of course -- chatter about who that teacher should be. Anna Faris, Tina Fey, Elizabeth Banks, Winona Ryder, and Angelina Jolie were names batted around, but they're nothing like the reality.

I'm sorry to report that according to Variety, Cameron Diaz will be the lucky lady Bad Teacher for Columbia Pictures. The film focuses on a foulmouthed gold digger middle-school teacher. When she's dumped by her sugar daddy boyfriend, she turns her romantic attentions to her colleague, but has to battle the school's model teacher -- her rival -- for the honor. (Variety now says she battles a colleague for the affections of the model teacher, but that might be a mix-up.)

Hollywood Ink: Cameron Diaz Goes Bad

· Cameron Diaz is now attached to the raunchy comedy Bad Teacher, in which she will portray a profane, ruthlessly social-climbing pedagogue stuck in a love triangle in her middle school's debauched teachers' lounge. Jake Kasdan will direct and, with any luck, mine some of the more unintentional hilarity Diaz brought to her role as the club-footed private-school instructor in The Box. [Variety]

Cameron Diaz To Teach Horribly

Cameron Diaz will star in the raunchy comedy “Bad Teacher.” The actress will star in the Jake Kasdan-helmed pic, which was penned by “The Office” scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky.Story centers on a foulmouthed, gold-digging middle-school teacher who, after getting dumped by her boyfriend, competes with a colleague for the affections of the school’s model teacher. Sorry, but that concept sounds effing horrible. I can already see Diaz hamming it up in my head. Hopefully, this will be more "School of Rock" and less like the bad eighties comedy it sounds like. The only saving grace is the writers - love "The Office." What do you guys think of Cameron Diaz? She kind of annoys me, but kind of doesn't at the same time. It's weird.Source: The Trades »

Diaz Returns to Raunchy Comedy with ‘Bad Teacher’

10 December 2009 5:36 AM, PST | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

People who watched Cameron Diaz’s performance in Richard Kelly’s The Box may have forgotten where she comes from: a world of goofy comedies including There’s Something About Mary. I haven’t watched that film in quite a while, and that’s because it simply doesn’t hold up. Funny, sure. Classic? No.

Diaz is headed to bat at the comedy plate once more, though, in Columbia Pictures’ “raunchy comedy” Bad Teacher. Directed by Jake Kasdan (Walk Hard) and written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, the same Office writers who are supposedly grinding away at Ghostbusters 3, Bad Teacher has found an actress for its leading role.

The film (which is unrelated to the Billy Bob Thornton flick Bad Santa, by the way) centers on “a foulmouthed, gold-digging middle-school teacher who, after getting dumped by her boyfriend, competes with a colleague for the affections of the school’s model teacher. »
