Reasonable premise, but done better in other shows

I really like Ted. I do. So, I really wanted to like this show. But I
didn't. At all.
The "experiments" are hokey, clearly staged, and not realistic in any
sense. The acting by the "food techs" is worthy of pity, given the
material that they are given. They do the best that they can, but the
result is sad.
I thought that the conveyance of scientific information might save the
show. But it doesn't. While there are some interesting tidbits here and
there, much of the information is non-specific and vague. A "study"
will give results of "many" or "some" instead of actual data.
I think Ted tries. I really think he does. The show seems to try to
fill a space in between "Good Eats", "America's Test Kitchen", and
"MythBusters". It doesn't.
I still like Ted, though.
