‘Easy A’ Helmer Will Gluck to Direct ‘Secretaries Day’ from ‘Iron Man 3′ Writer Drew Pearce

16 December 2011 5:00 AM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

[1] Thanks to the dual successes of last year's Easy A and this year's Friends with Benefits, director Will Gluck is on a hot streak right now. He's been attached to helm [2] the reality-based moon rock heist movie (really) Sex on the Moon since the spring, has plans to produce a remake [3] of Ed Zwick's About Last Night..., and could be reuniting with Easy A star Emma Stone for another Screen Gems pic. And that's just on the silver screen -- he's also executive producing the upcoming TV series Mrs. Miller, with Ugly Betty developer Silvio Horta. Now Gluck's newest gig is Secretaries Day, which thankfully is not a sequel to Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve, but an action comedy from Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce. More details after the jump. Sony Pictures recently acquired the spec script for Gluck to direct, as well as produce through his Olive Bridge Entertainment shingle. »

Mandate Pictures Gives The Green Light For Leah Rachel Script ‘The Young, The Hot, And The Bothered’

16 December 2011 5:00 AM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Truly great “coming-of-age” movies may only hit our screens once in a blue moon, but when they do, they have the potential to make for some of the most life affirming 2 hours (or so) you could spend. Providing a break from the recent disappointments, such movies as Easy A and Superbad proved you can combine hilarity with heart-warming love scenes, all without being too cheesy or replacing authenticity with an obviously fabricated sense of reality. It’s a shame such films are so rare, as they can be quite incredibly special when they are done right.

One woman hoping to join the (not so long) list of successful creators of these tales is 25-year-old Leah Rachel. She’s never written a full length feature before, but that hasn’t stopped Mandate Pictures (Juno, Stranger Than Fiction, 50/50) from picking up her script for distribution. It is pitched as “coming-of-age comedy about the delusion, »

The World's Next Action Hero will be ... The Secretary

15 December 2011 3:00 PM, PST | Movies.com | See recent Movies.com news »

Easy A director Will Gluck — who also showed us how Friends With Benefits works earlier this year — is a welcome new voice in the comedy world. According to Deadline, he'll soon be tackling a movie with a different kind of action (action-comedy, to be exact) with the upcoming Secretaries Day. We don't know much about the project yet, but it looks like Iron Man 3 and Sherlock Holmes 3 screenwriter Drew Pearce will be taking on script duties. Pearce is also working on the Marvel comics adaptation, Runaways, and helping out busy genre director Guillermo del Toro on Pacific Rim. Clearly he's got the action chops required, so it will be interesting to see what he does with the funny stuff.    Gluck was reportedly attached to an adaptation of...

Will Gluck To Direct Secretaries Day From Iron Man 3 Scribe Drew Pearce

15 December 2011 11:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Writer-director Will Gluck has had an excellent couple of years, with his last two credits, Easy A and Friends With Benefits, each doing tremendously well at the box office, with the former turning an $8m. budget into almost $75m. in cinemas, and the later taking almost $150m. from a $35m. investment. Impressive stuff.

Deadline are now reporting that Sony have bought an action-comedy spec pitch from Drew Pearce, the man who in the past year has been hired to write both Iron Man 3 and more recently Sherlock Holmes 3 (provided A Game of Shadows does well, which everyone’s expecting it to), for Gluck to both produce and direct, entitled Secretaries Day.

Though I missed Friends With Benefits this year, I absolutely loved Gluck’s Easy A last year, and thought it was the best teen comedy à la John Hughes I’ve ever seen that wasn’t made by the great Hughes himself. »

The Help is one of the most talked about films of the year, and for good reason… it is absolutely fantastic. That is why it is no shock that the Blu-Ray DVD Combo pack is such a delight.

Synopsis:

Based on one of the most talked about books in years and a #1 New York Times best-selling phenomenon, The Help stars Emma Stone (Easy A) as Skeeter, Academy Award®.nominated Viola Davis (Doubt) as Aibileen and Octavia Spencer as Minny.three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. From their improbable alliance a remarkable sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed.even if it means bringing everyone in »

The story follows narcissistic mean girl Bridget Duke who crashes her car and ends up in limbo. There she must confront the people she has bullied, degraded and belittled, all of whom must decide if she goes to heaven or hell

'Easy A' Helmer Will Gluck To Direct Action-Comedy 'Secretaries Day' From 'Iron Man 3' Writer Drew Pearce

15 December 2011 6:41 AM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Sony loves Will Gluck. In the course of three movies (“Fired Up!,” “Easy A,” and “Friends With Benefits”) he transformed the company’s Screen Gems shingle from a cheap huckster of common genre flicks (the “Underworld” movies, “Takers,” “Priest,” “Burlesque”) into the premiere haven for somewhat-intelligent inexpensive mainstream comedy features (and, yes, also, common genre flicks). In fact, the studio signed the helmer to a two-year deal last fall. So it’s no surprise that Sony has picked up a spec pitch from “Iron Man 3” screenwriter Drew Pearce for Gluck to produce and direct. The action-comedy is titled “Secretaries Day” and we’re going to assume this film is a vehicle for female actresses, a la “Bridesmaids” (but with more explosions). Screenwriter Pearce recently agreed to write “Sherlock Holmes 3” for Warner Bros. and »

Friends With Benefits Director Will Gluck Moves On To Secretaries Day

15 December 2011 6:36 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Just three films into his career, WIll Gluck has established himself as maybe the freshest new voice in directing comedies. His witty Easy A turned Emma Stone into a star almost overnight, and this summer his Friends With Benefits paired Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake as a surprisingly successful raunchy rom-com duo. There's every reason to look forward to what Gluck does next, and for a while it seemed it might be Sex on the Moon, an adaptation of a book by The Social Network Ben Mezrich that Gluck signed on to last March. That plan may now be changing a bit, as Deadline reports that Gluck is now attached to direct and produce the action comedy Secreatries Day. The script was written by Drew Pearce, a newcomer whose name is now incredibly well known as he's writing both Iron Man 3 and Sherlock Holmes 3-- clearly he's got Robert Downey »

'Easy A' Director Will Gluck to Helm 'Secretaries Day' Action Comedy

14 December 2011 9:22 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

After turning in one great teenage comedy in the form of Easy A and a decent effort at a straight up romantic comedy with Friends with Benefits, director Will Gluck has made a decent name for himself on the big screen as a director who can pull some truly genuine performances out of actors. Now we'll see how he fares when with some action in the mix as Deadline reports Gluck is attached to direct a new action comedy called Secretaries Day, a project being developed from a spec pitch from writer Drew Pearce, the man behind the UK series "No Heroics" and the forthcoming Iron Man 3 script with Shane Black. At this time no plot details have been divulged, but there's a good chance it involves a wrong-place-at-the-wrong time sort of scenario where a secretary gets involved in some sort of plot way over her head. Will Gluck Directing ‘Secretaries Day’

14 December 2011 6:35 PM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Building on the incredible traction gained from two hits in the past year or so, Will Gluck has signed on to helm and produce Secretaries Day, an action comedy that Sony bought on spec from Iron Man 3 co-scribe Drew Pearce. Want to know what the thing’s about? Too bad; the information in Deadline‘s story goes about that far.

Secretaries is just one of several projects Gluck could end up directing in the near future. His next film will probably be Sex on the Moon, but there’s still a prospective reteaming with Easy A star Emma Stone, and I’m sure Sony has something else they wouldn’t mind putting his name on. Add on the producing duties for an About Last Night… remake, and you can see that he’s a busy fellow; the power of working with Timberlake, it seems.

But it is unusual, right? »

‘Brave’ starring Kelly MacDonald and Emma Thompson – trailer review

Brave

Directed by: Mark Andrews, Brenda Chapman

Starring: (voices of) Kelly MacDonald, Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly

Rating: PG

Release Date: June 22, 2012

Trailer Score: 9/10

Thoughts by Tsr: Pixar’s first female protagonist! Yay! And she has crazy red hair and Scottish ancestors and she rides her ebony steed dramatically through the storm! The animation looks phenomenal (it’s Pixar; of course it does), the characters seem wonderful (ditto), and it gives little girls an alternative to Barbie’s vacant grin. So excited!
