Benched: Will You Proceed With USA Network's New Legal Comedy?

Elevators. Relationships. Conversations with other human beings in general. As evidenced by Tuesday’s series premiere of USA Network’s Benched, none of these things are lawyer Nina Whitley’s strengths.

Fortunately — for the viewers, at least — her failures are spectacularly entertaining.

After being passed over for partner at her corporate firm — by a less-qualified, larger-breasted friend, no less — Nina (Happy EndingsEliza Coupe) unleashes the proverbial Kraken, telling off every single one of her co-workers with the kind of speech most hard-working, under-appreciated Americans only dream of. »

BBC One's Silk to be remade for Us television by ABC

27 October 2014 5:03 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

BBC One's Silk is to be remade for Us television.

The legal series from BAFTA-winning writer Peter Moffat is being adapted by ABC, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Moffat is attached as executive producer for the Us version, which will be scripted by Drop Dead Diva writer Marty Scott.

The original Silk - starring Maxine Peake as Martha Costello QC - ran for three series on BBC One, launching in 2011 and airing its final episode earlier this year.

ABC's planned series will reinvent Costello as a Us attorney who works at elitist law firm Crown & Royce.

This is the second of Moffat's projects to be adapted for Us television, with HBO still working on a long-gestating adaptation of another BBC series, Criminal Justice.

At long last, the Kepner family tree is complete. Or at least it will be this fall when Grey’s Anatomy formally introduces April’s mother.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Connie Ray (The Big C, The Torkelsons) has been cast as the Kepner clan’s matriarch, Karen. This is technically a recast, since the character appeared briefly (sans dialogue) at April’s wedding to Jackson last season played by a different actress (the first person to ID said mystery actress in the comments wins a 20% off coupon to Bed Bath & Beyond).

Her biting comedic sensibility - her art and craft - came from feeling like an outsider among Hollywood stars and New York society, even after she herself became very rich and very famous.
