Producer-cum-actor Abhishek Bachchan says the experience of producing Paa has made him grow up. He says, .High time it did so. People keep asking me what we are producing next. At the moment I don.t want to leave Paa behind. I.m completely engrossed with Paa and how to take it forward, including the DVD release..Abhishek says Paa had recovered its costs only two days after its release but he chooses to be cautious in his exuberance. He says, .My very dear friend Aditya Chopra told me, .It.s very rare when the audience decides to love you and when they do you must be very thankful for that. I feel no sense of vindication. I didn.t make Paa to prove any point to everyone. I just wanted to make an A-grade product with a cast to match within a given reasonable budget and without compromise..Now »

Om Puri to play a terror mastermind in Rensil D'Silva's Kurbaan

19 September 2009 3:23 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

Naseeruddin Shah ostensibly played a terror mastermind in Neeraj Pandey's A Wednesday. But finally it turned out to be the role of messiah on a mission to 'cleanse the society'. Now, Naseer's arch-rival Om Puri has taken on the role of an unapologetic hardcore terrorist in Rensil D'Silva's Kurbaan. Bollywood characters derived from headlines specially ones that are taken from extremist news reports, are now being seen as tricky territory. In Rensil D'Silva's hushed and much talked-about Kurbaan, Om Puri plays a hardcore terrorist who masterminds a massive terror attack in the Us. Surely a politically-incorrect role for an actor, if ever there was one! In fact, Irrfan Khan had said no to play a global terrorist in Kurbaan. Playing a terrorist automatically puts the actor in the suspicious list on the international airports. And so what if it's just a part? But Om is fearless. "I'm aware of the repercussions. »

The producer had announced his release date as August 21, and has now postponed it to September with Harman-Priyanka starrer. Finally after calling several meetings with the Producers Association (Imppa), Ashutosh had managed to have a solo release. Producer Anjum Rizvi says, "Yes, I have to postpone the film to September 25. Because of swine flu, we decided to push the movie and selected for that date. Neeraj Pandey's next with Ekta Kapoor, his assistant will make Wednesday prequel

27 July 2009 8:30 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

Rightfully, A Wednesday director Neeraj Pandey has reached the land of plenty. From the time when he had to struggle to put together his first political thriller a year back to now, when Neeraj is spoilt by choices...the director has indeed come a long way in no time. Just when Neeraj was ready to direct a film for Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Films, his dispute with Utv over the prequel has been resolved. Utv and Neeraj Pandey had gone into legal recourse after Utv sold off the Tamil rights of Pandey's A Wednesday. Utv apparently, also questioned Pandey's right to make a prequel to A Wednesday which he was planning. But now the matter is now settled. "I'm free to make the prequel. But I can't have the title A Wednesday. I agree the branding goes a long way in getting the audience. But I'll have the same cast »

But the cinematographer-filmmaker shooting for Mani Ratnam's Raavan in distant inaccessible Chalakudy in Kerala didn't know about the triumph until three days after it happened! Yes, the winner of the top award 'The German Star Of India' award at Stuttgart Film Festival was Santosh Sivan's film Tahaan about the adventures of a little boy and his pet donkey in militant Kashmir. Kunal Kohli who was the only Indian jury member at the awards said, "There were other top contenders like Neeraj Pandey's A Wednesday, Piyush Jha's Sikandar, Nishikant Kamat's Mumbai Meri Jaan, Umkanth Thumrugoti's 7 Days In Slow Motion , and Gabricha Paus' The Damned Rain. On the lines of Khosla Ka Ghosla and A Wednesday, comes a film directed by Pankaj Advani, called Sankat City. Having an acting school of mine and getting opportunities to work outside India I get to be in touch with today's generation. In that sense I will never feel outdated. Sankat City is my belief in the modern day Indian cinema and that how money plays very minimum role in the germ of a thought that enters into the mind of a director or writer. »
