Titanic's Tragic Sister (2007)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Very good documentary taking a look at the events surrounding the sinking of Britannic. Wreck divers John Chatteron and Richard Kohler are joined by some of the best experts in the world as they go on a ten day dive to the resting place of the great ship to try and discover why it went down and at such a fast pace even after its builders added extra safety measures. The documentary gives us the complete story of the building of the ship as well as the changes that were made to it after its sister ship Titanic went down. We learn about the various safety changes that were made and then we hear what effect WWI had on the ship. From here we learn about the day it went down and hear about some of the horrors people on board went through. The big reason to watch this is that it does give you a very good look at the history of the sinking but I think most people are going to be attracted to the footage of the ship. We get some terrific shots of the ship and some great stuff inside it. It's worth noting that the divers manage to get further into the ship than anyone before them so they do uncover a few new things even if their main goal isn't reached. History fans should really enjoy this 47-minute documentary.
