- The lab tries to unravel a complicated case involving fake FBI agents, an ultimate fighter, and a possible human trafficking ring.
- When a man is brutally murdered in the restroom of a gas station by a strong man, Catherine and Langston arrive at the crime scene to investigate the case. Soon Brass tells them that the victim is FBI Agent William Ray Hatford, and his shield, badge and weapon has been taken by the killer. Soon FBI Agents Beckman and Stanley disclose to Brass that Hatford was working undercover with human trafficking of girls from Brazil and they team-up. When Wendy sends the DNA of Agent Hatford to Quantico, she learns that he does not have any record, therefore his ID is fake.—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

It's night in Vegas. A man walks down a wet street. He approaches a men's room at a gas station and opens the door with a hanky. He surveys the nasty, leaking urinal and generally gross bathroom. He sees "blow your gasket" written on the mirror. He copies this down. He steps to pee at the urinal. We hear the door open and see his head turn. We cut to a guy on a bike who really needs to pee. He bangs on the door until something very heavy hits the other side and he hears screaming and noise inside. He jumps back when he sees blood spatter the shaded window. Instead of running for help, he peers under the door and sees a river of blood flow out. The door swings open and a huge guy walks out and the bike guy peers up at him in shadow. We cut to the bike guy describing him as the Incredible Hulk, but red, to a cop.
Catherine and Langston arrive and note that there are three detectives, including Brass, on site, for one homicide, which is odd. Catherine says she doesn't think they're LVPD. They enter the men's room which is totally spattered with blood. Langston takes pictures of the dead guy - who's head has been bashed in and is missing an arm. As Catherine looks around she finds it, it was ripped off, not cut off. Langston thinks that would require a lot of rage. Catherine tells him not to get ahead of the evidence. The dead guy has a Dept of Justice pen in his pocket. Brass walks in and says the guy is acutally FBI Agent Hatford. He and the two other suits he was talking to outside stopped in for gas, Hatford came to take a leak, and never came out. Brass who thinks this is more than a simple robbery, is going to talk to the agents down at the station. When Langston cocks an eyebrow toward Catherine, she grins at him and says, "he's (Brass) supposed to get ahead of the evidence." Langston notices a big chunk of flesh on the floor and thinks maybe the stoner was right and a big red Hulk did do this.
We get a close-up of the flesh in a dish as Langston pulls glass shards out of it. He and David wash off the body. They feel it up and down but don't think the hunk of flesh came from this man. They're not sure where it came from. Langston tries to get his prints but when he puts the sensor up to the hand of the unattached arm he gets none. The guy doesn't have any. Langston shows this to David and muses that it might be surgical and wonders why an FBI agent would do this.
Cut to another agent telling Brass that Hatford had been working undercover and the print removal was part of the job. They back and forth about procedure and suspects and Brass wonders if it could be related to the case they're working. The lady agent is all flinty and tough saying of course it could be, since they work with scumbags every day. The other is more fussbudgety dude who asks the lady Agent, Stanley, to step out of the room for a moment. The male agent assures Brass they have the full cooperation of the FBI.
Catherine and Greg watch surveillance video from the gas station of Stanley and the male agent filling up while waiting for Hatford to return. They catch a break, a glimpse of the incredible red hulk in a mirror, covered in blood.
The male agent tells Riley and Nick that they've been investigating human trafficking cases, the luring of underage women. They walk into where Hatford was working undercover on recruitment, a dingy office/base of operations with photos plastered to the walls. Riley asks how they got this crap duty and Agent Stanley is all "this is important work, we requested it, what you think all we do is spy on Americans?" wtih an abundance of sarcasm. Riley apologizes.
They bring out case files. Nick and Riley ask if Hatford wore a wire. Yes, but they haven't transcribed all the tapes yet. They eyeball a bunch of photos on the wall of people involved in the case and the Feds say they haven't been able to ID the leader, who's referred to - in Portuguese- as "the Fist." The Feds asks Nick if he recognizes anyone. He says he doesn't know but his eyes linger on a young brunette girl.
At the lab Langston and Robbins are un-rigor mortis-ing the chunk of flesh. They determine it's part of the biceps and it has some kind of infection from shooting steroids with a dirty needle. Which Langston calls stupid, even for a guy who killed an FBI agent. Langston says he found some mirror glass in the arm leading to the theory, which we see visualized, of the guy covered in blood trying to dig something out of his arm, perhaps having to do with the infection.
We cut to Catherine and Riley listening to the tape made from Hatford's wire the night before his death. He's talking to a muscled guy named Vinnie. We cut to the scene of the tape and Hatford arresting the guy for running "hos" for "the Fist." Vinnie claims he doesn't work for anyone. Cut back to Catherine and Riley with Riley saying that since the guy was only referred to as Vinnie they don't have much to go on. A tech comes in and gives them the rundown on the myriad of drugs/steroids found in the bicep, which are consistent with those that floated around the weightlifting community. Catherine says they have a source in this area that's very easy to get to.
Cut to a dude in jail being interrogated. He's the originator of the "juice" found in the guy. He's pissed that the cops want his help now that they've ruined his life by tossing him in jail as an example of the corruption in society but letting his underlings go. He says he only has 22 days left on his time so Brass can't do anything for or to him. Brass calls in the male Fed, Agent Beckman. As he enters Agent Stanley asks Langston if he works much with the Feds. He says it's his first time since he's a CSI one. Stanley wonders if he was "held back." Langston says he was a physician. Beckman enters and threatens the guy with a racketeering charge if he's even "talked" about drugs in prison. Langston and Stanley, watching through the one-way glass, are impressed with his knowledge of the law. The guy gives up Vinnie Mingus, he's a "supreme force fighter." (Think the UFC).
We cut to two dudes fighting in a cage surrounded by spectactors. Nick calls it "human cockfighting," Brass prefers real boxing. They spy a poster of Mingus and go on the hunt. Nick overhears someone talking to Vinnie in another room. He turns a corner and spies Mingus puking in a toilet, hooked up to an IV. His arm, where the bicep fell off, is covered in a bandage. He taunts Stokes and Brass saying they'll have to shoot him to take him. He's obviously out of his mind. He charges through the hall, into the ring, pushing people around yelling. He grabs a gun from a security guy screaming that it's not even loaded. He puts it to his head and pulls the trigger. It was loaded.
Cut to a TV news report on the shooting which the Feds are watching at the CSI lab. Brass reports that Vinnie's doctor says Vinnie came to him all banged up, refused hospital treatment, he gave him antibiotics and hoped for the best. They wonder why the doctor didn't alert authorities. The doctor was afraid of him. Brass theorizes that Mingus got mad at Hatford and followed him and killed him. The Feds thank Brass for his help and Brass asks to be kept in the loop.
Over in the lab Langston is reporting to Nick and Hodges that they found Hatford's notepad, badge, and gun in Mingus' gym bag. Turns out the gun is Mingus' since it's a street piece. Hodges finds photos of the Feds on Vinnie's phone, as if he was conducting an investigation of his own.
Nick runs after Catherine and reminds her of a Jane Doe from a few months back. This was the girl he was looking at on the human trafficking board. They watch the Feds video of her being interrogated. She cries and says she's 16. We cut to the actual conversation with Agent Stanley trying to help her and asking who brought her here. The girl cries and says she can't say because she'll be killed. Stanley says they will protect her. Hatford steps in and says they're trying to help but ultimately she's a prostitute so she has to tell or they'll take her to jail. She begs to be taken to jail. (Apparently that's better than going back to being a whore). Another voice says "let her go." The tape runs out. Back at the lab Nick says she was never re-interviewed. Riley theorizes "The Fist" discovered she was interrogated and killed her as a warning to the other girls.
Wendy runs DNA on Hatford and sends it in an email to Quantico for confirmation that it's his.
Langston prints the gun. He calls Brass. It turns out it was Hatford's gun after all. Brass and Langston suspect Hatford might have been dirty. Brass gets word of a 420 on Hill St.
We cut to a crime scene under an overpass where a female victim is face down. Brass runs into Agent Beckman behind the tape. Before Brass turns her over we see Wendy back in the lab receiving an urgent email re: Hatford's DNA. We cut back to Brass turning the body over to reveal Agent Stanley. Brass gets a call. It's Wendy who says the FBI says there is no record of Hatford. The guy was a fake. As he hangs up Brass scans the crowd for Beckman who is gone.
On the slab Robbins, Catherine, and Langston believe she was hit at close range from behind. She has old scars on her wrists. A tech comes in and informs them that her real name is Emma Mosler, a former prostitute. Langston is trying to figure out why a prostitute would pose as an FBI agent interrogating prostitutes.
The cops go investigate the faux Feds base of operations. Hodges says it was a good scam, one he heard a meth dealer once pulled. An actual FBI agent says he would've been fooled by the badges. Brass points out it didn't fool Mingus, who also thought the cops were fake. Riley finds a book with funny code in it. They don't know where Beckman is, they only have a lease with a phony corporation name.
We cut back to the video from the night of Hatford's murder which Nick and Greg are trying to use to get the license plate number for the car they used. It's registered to the same address as the lease. They notice Emma swiped her card for gas so they go to where the bill was sent.
Cut to a huge white house with columns. It's a halfway house, from which she was stealing identities from the residents. Brass and Langston enter and ask the man in charge about Emma. He says she's a resident and she's real sweet. She signed out two days ago. They ask about "Beckman". His real name is Miles Gelson, he came to the house from a psychiatric hospital. Hatford is Billy Ray Salvia, another resident. Brass and Langston realize they've been running a case with three crazy people. They go up to Miles' room and discover him sitting on the floor all curled up. They say they have some questions that need to be answered. Miles motions them closer. He claims he's undercover in the house and that if they want to talk they need to handcuff him in order not to blow his cover. Langston says it's best if they play along. They arrest him. As they walk out a guy drives by and attempts to shoot them. Brass shoots back and the car crashes. The shooter is dead. "Beckman" commends Brass on a good job. Brass freaks and calls Beckman a whack job and smears the dead guy's blood on him yelling that people are dead because of Beckman. Langston tries to back him off.
Langston investigates the shooters' body. He finds a cell phone. We hear Brass voicing over that the phone had pics of the phony Feds, meaning that Mingus was spreading the word. We see Beckman in a jail cell as Brass continues saying that the shooter was one of "The Fist"s lower level punks. Outside Beckman's cell Brass asks how much time the whackjob has left. The real Fed says 15-20 minimum.
At the lab Langston and Riley are going over the stuff from the fake command post. Riley is going over the codebook. They need a cipher key. Langston thinks Miles Beckman may be the key.
Langston takes a page of the book to Miles. He apologizes about his friends and asks for his help with the "evidence ledger." Miles doesn't respond. Langston sits and says he thinks he knows what happened. He says he thinks that he and Emma and Billy Ray were trying to do some good and in order to do that they had to reinvent themselves. Miles said all he did was get them killed. Langston wants to help him finish what he started. Miles doesn't respond. As Langston walks away Beckman starts saying letters: it's abbreviations only he would understand.
Wendy shows Langston how to screen a weapon, swabbing the grip, the magazine, etc. They get a blood hit and run it through a DNA database and get a hit. It was the fight doctor, Reynaldo Firlo, the one who was working with Mingus. They think he shot the young girl. We cut to the cops busting the guy in a room full of underaged girls.
Langston goes to Miles Beckman and tells him they caught "the Fist" and that Beckman helped. Beckman is glad. Langston also brought him a copy of "Man of La Mancha." Beckman says as he recalls Don Quixote regained his sanity but died emotionally broken. Langston points out that they didn't have anti-depressants back then. Beckman smiles. Beckman begins to read as we see the girls being led out of the dingy dorm where they were being kept.
