Susannah York would co-star as Maria Fitzherbert in Prince Regent (1979) in which Peter Egan played the focal role of the future George IV.
The source play: "The First Gentleman", had played the West End in 1945-46, headlined by Robert Morley as the Prince Regent, Wendy Hiller as Princess Charlotte, and Philip Friend as Prince Leopold. A cinematic version: Affairs of a Rogue (1948), had starred Jean-Pierre Aumont as Prince Leopold, Joan Hopkins as Princess Charlotte, and Cecil Parker as the Prince Regent.
Susannah York would play Thomas More's daughter Margaret More, the young female lead in A Man for All Seasons (1966) with Wendy Hiller in the older female lead role: Margaret's stepmother Alice. Hiller had originated the role of Princess Charlotte in the West End theatrical run of "The First Gentleman" 16 years before York played Princess Charlotte in the 1961 televersion of the play.
Jack Gwillim - seen here as Edward Duke of York - would again be a castmate of Susannah York: in A Man for All Seasons (1966), in which York played the young female lead Margaret More, Gwillim appeared as Chief Justice.
