Sean Bean sits atop the Iron Throne -- for now -- in HBO's Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones, HBO’s elaborate, fully rigged primetime fantasy television series, was an instant hit upon its broadcast premiere in April2011.

Based on George R. R. Martin‘s best-selling series of novels A Song of Ice and Fire, the sweeping fantasy saga is set in the mythical land of Westeros, where summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime. It’s here that two powerful families — royal clans of kings and queens, knights and renegades, and liars and noblemen — engage in a deadly cat-and-mouse game for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. As betrayal, lust, intrigue and supernatural forces shake all parts of the land, their bloody struggle for the Iron Throne will have unforeseen and far-reaching consequences.

Joe Lynch Talks Knights of Badassdom

Joe Lynch Talks Knights of Badassdom
Huzzah! A fortnight (or so) ago, thou hast received a scroll (e-mail) inviting me for an early look at Knights of Badassdom. Of course, I couldn't pass up such an invite, since I have been following the movie on Twitter (@badassdom_movie) for awhile now and it has such an amazing cast, with Ryan Kwanten, Summer Glau, Steve Zahn, Margarita Levieva, Danny Pudi, Joshua Malina, and the incomparable Peter Dinklage.

For those who aren't too familiar with Knights of Badassdom, the movie centers on a group of live-action roleplayers (a.k.a. LARPers) who inadvertently summon a powerful demon from the depths of hell. They must then try to use their Larp fighting skills to try and contain the demon. When I arrived at this Hollywood event, I and the other press members were greeted by director Joe Lynch, screenwriter/producer Matt Wall, and producer Mark Burton. First off, they

New Release: O Brother, Where Art Thou? Blu-ray

Disney will debut the Blu-ray disc of the Coen Brothers’ 2000 period comedy-adventure O Brother, Where Art Thou? on September 13 for the list price of $26.50.

John Turturro (l.), Tim Blake Nelson (ctr.) and George Clooney are on the lam in O Brother Where Art Thou?

The release comes less than a month after Universal issues the Coen Brothers film The Big Lebowski on Blu-ray for the very first time.

The film playfully updates Homer’s famous epic poem The Odyssey to Depression-era Mississippi and stars George Clooney (The Men Who Stare At Goats), John Turturro (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) and Tim Blake Nelson (Saint John of Las Vegas) as three escaped prisoners who embark on a wild adventure while shackled to each other. On their “odyssey,” they encounter such strange characters as a blind prophet (Lee Weaver, Donnie Darko) a trio of sexy sirens and a one-eyed Bible salesman (John Goodman,

Kim Basinger, Heather Graham, Catherine O'Hara & Jason Patric Find 'Fortune'
As the saying goes, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" and it has served the foundation for many movies fromt the successful ("The Hangover") to the dreadful ("Saint John Of Las Vegas") and yet another is on the way. Variety reports that Kim Basinger, Heather Graham, Catherine O'Hara and Jason Patric will star in the indie flick "Fortune." Written by Nancy Fichman and Jennifer Hoppe (the duo have previously teamed on episodes of "Nurse Jackie"), the story follows "a petty thief who pledges to save his life after a roadside killing; and two financially destitute sisters who grudgingly team…

New Release: Peep World Blu-ray and DVD

IFC will release the spirited 2010 comedy Peep World on Blu-ray and DVD on July 19 for the list prices of $29.98 and $24.98, respectively.

Sarah Silverman puts up her dukes in the comedy Peep World.

Directed by Barry Blaustein (The Ringer) and written by first-time screenwriter Peter Himmelstein, the movie zeroes in on the growing tensions between four siblings as they dine with their father (Ron Rifkin, TV’s Brothers and Sisters) to celebrate his 70th birthday. The “kids” consists of two brothers who are, respectively, a porn addict (Michael C. Hall, TV’s Dexter) and a screw-up (Rainn Wilson, TV’s The Office), a bitchy actress sister (Sarah Silverman, Saint John of Las Vegas) and a third son (Ben Schwartz, TV’s Parks and Recreation) who has just published the hot novel Peep World, a very thinly veiled portrait of the family. This dysfunctional lot should have called it a night after the appetizer…

This Week on DVD: Greenberg, The Bounty Hunter, Chloe

Put your wallets away folks, it's another slow week for new releases on DVD and Blu-ray. With the exception of Noah Baumbach's Greenberg starring Ben Stiller, which is one of the better movies of the year thus far, there isn't much out there worth spending your money on. Atom Egoyan's Chloe hits stores today, along with The Greatest starring Carey Mulligan and Pierce Brosnan, and The Bounty Hunter starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler. Also, in the non-fiction department we have 8: The Mormon Proposition and the John Hughes doc Don't You Forget About Me. Other than that, you can revisit Christopher Nolan's Insomnia on Blu-ray... and that's about it. Do you see anything worth buying or renting this week? The Bounty Hunter [1] (+ Blu-ray [2]) Greenberg [3] (+ Blu-ray [4]) Chloe [5] (+ Blu-ray [6]) The Greatest [7] (+ Blu-ray [8]) Saint John of Las Vegas [9] Our Family Wedding [10] (+ Blu-ray [11]) How to Make Love to a Woman

Insomnia I just posted my review of this Blu-ray and while this isn't exactly a personal favorite, fans of this film will particularly enjoy this release. The film looks and sounds great and it comes with a solid group of special features, especially Chris Nolan's commentary, presented in the order he shot the film. You can read my full review right here. Universal Catalog Blu-ray

Alpha Dog / Assault on Precinct 13 / In Bruges This is a decent trio of films although I have no real desire to watch Alpha Dog again and Assault on Precinct 13, while fun, could be replaced by just about any other action thriller you may already have in your collection. But, In Bruges, if you don't already own this one now is the time to pick it up. It's a great film and a ton of fun.

Cinema's Awesome Manly Man Kurt Russell Returns In 'Undying'

How awesome is Kurt Russell? He's so awesome I had to dedicate two articles on how manly he is and how his movies have been some the greatest cult classics to ever hit the big screen. We haven't seen Kurt in a few years since he played Stuntman Mike in Death Proof. I had thought that maybe he had retired from acting so he could slap his daughter around for sleeping with A-Rod, but it appears as if Kurt is coming back after all to star in a supernatural thriller called "Undying".THR has more:cannes -- Media 8 Entertainment has recruited Kurt Russell to star in its supernatural thriller "Undying."The neo-noir creeper, penned by "Book of Eli" scribe Gary Whitta and originally titled "Reaper," tells the story of private investigator Virgil Lone, who gets pulled into a surreal underworld when he is hired by the mysterious Delia.
