We already brought you almost all the early details anyone could ever want on Rian Johnson's next project, titled Looper, but today we've got a minor update with more information. As exciting as he made the sci-fi film sound in the original reveal, Johnson never mentioned what the actual story would be about. We did know that time travel was involved as a plot device, but that's about it. Hollywood Reporter's official announcement on the project today finally includes some brief details on the story: "Looper is set in a present-day world in which a group of hitmen are sent their victims from the future." This definitely sounds quite a bit better than I was initially expecting, that's for sure! Interested? I have the misfortune of being one of the few web writers left who haven't seen THE BROTHERS BLOOM. Now that the film has been pushed back from October to December, I'm even more anxious to sink my eyes into it. The project will team Johnson with producer Ram Bergman, who produced Johnson's previous two films, with the pair eyeing a 2009 start date. Johnson again will direct from his own script.
Endgame Entertainment, which financed and produced "Bloom," will likely come on to finance and produce "Looper," though the principals said there have been no formal negotiations yet.
