Peter vs. the train company
JordanThomasHall21 January 2019
Peter is filling in for an early morning TV show and commuting early on the 7:22 into the city. He carries his bright disposition onto the nasty, broken down train. Peter blasts the train on the TV program. Fellow commuters ask Peter to lead a committee to improve the train service. He goes straight to the top to speak with Inter-Urban Railroad President Jonathan Compton Fairfield (no-nonsense character actor John McGiver). Mr. Fairfield is operating the line at a great loss, and he discusses with his associate/son Robert (Ken Berry, "Mayberry RFD", "Mama's Family", "F Troop") how if a petitioned governor closes it in favor of a speedway they would have to buy the land for it from the railroad at a large profit. Indeed, Peter's efforts result in the approval of the fast highway. But, in reviewing the plans with Mary he finds their house and the rest of the neighborhood will be torn down in favor of it. Now, Peter works to change Mr. Fairfield's mind before they get to "the end of the line".
