It is a powerful image: Criss Angel standing on the surface of a lake. But, having been exposed as a cheater in several of his illusions by The Masked Magician in 2008's Magic's Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed series, Criss tries his best to convince the viewers that no, absolutely no, this time the audience is not all his assistants and there really is nothing solid under his feet when he's walking on the lake. And unless the overkill in "proving" isn't a clue enough that this is once again, fake, a little use of observation and brains leaves one with the conclusion that it is.
Take the card trick outdoors where Criss selects a "random" person from the people gathered around. No, Criss, telling the person you selected to chose another person does *not* prove they aren't both your assistants. For an illusionist who got caught in *several* tricks with the *entire* audience being his paid (and no doubt under a no-disclosure contract) assistants, how can he think we will believe now that everyone in the trick isn't on his payroll? Furthermore, the fake scalp on the bald man and the fake blood are pretty obvious to anyone's eyes who have seen various Making ofs where prosthetics are demonstrated.
And no, Criss, the amount of clicks your videos get on the net is proof of only how many times they have been watched. It doesn't give them any more credibility. Maybe one of them is the most watched illusion video on the net ever, but that doesn't really *prove* anything about the illusion itself.
So, the Walk on Lake. The shaky camera-work in unclear water proves nothing. The camera in Criss' hand proves nothing. The overkill in really hammering it home that this "isn't" an illusion is the surest way to reveal that it is indeed an illusion, obviously the exact same that The Masked Magician revealed, only with bigger budget and more overacting assistants pretending to have found out that Criss is not standing on anything solid (count the number of hysterical "Oh my god!" screams). Actually, all the water-jets and helicopter ironically do is reveal that this is indeed the same illusion as when Criss walked across the swimming pool. The waves caused by the water-jets and helicopter reach Criss' feet and the water laps over his ankles without moving him an inch - he *definitely* is standing on something solid unaffected by waves. Otherwise he'd "bobble" on top of the waves. Very disappointing.
