Not a bad little horror flick if you can get past the weak acting..., 12 July 2011
Author: Terry Roehrig II from United States

As far as straight-to-video movies go, this one wasn't that bad. It's got some story and mystery to it and if you can get past the bad acting, you might actually find yourself liking it more than you thought you would.

Harry Bailey (Cain) is the sheriff of a small town and usually his biggest problem is poachers. But, one morning, something bigger than that happens and he's off to the races trying to solve some murders. The whole town wants to believe that a cougar or a grizzly bear attacked the couple, but Harry's gut tells him something else. He's also having trouble sleeping because he's been having these wild, vivid dreams. If the murders and the restless nights weren't enough, he also has to oversee his 17-year-old daughter Pearl's (Phillips) actions because he's a single parent. His wife left 15 years ago and vanished without a trace. He wants to believe that she's still alive but Pearl thinks otherwise. As Harry tries to solve the mystery of who or what is responsible for the deaths, another person disappears and the townsfolk get anxious because nothing is being done. After he realizes what he's dealing with, he knows that he can't truly trust anyone...not even himself.

I liked the story behind this one, it has to deal with Ancient Indian tribes and their legends and stuff. The script could have been a bit sharper when it came to dialog, but with a low budget movie like this one, you have to expect some cuts somewhere. All of the actors were fair to midland here, Cain included, but it wasn't so bad that I couldn't watch it. The effects were pretty nice, too. They didn't try to overdo it by dumping gallons of blood or have intestines popping out, overall it had all the qualities you look for in a straight-to-video horror film (boobs, blood & guts, monster, story). They accomplished what they set out to do and like I said, if you can get past the acting and sometimes weak dialog, then you've got yourself a good little horror movie to cuddle up with on the couch.
