Plot Summary

  • Bruce sets up a trip to get his family back on track, but it's less pleasant than he'd hoped. Rick comes along, but he and B.J. fight about Sam. When Laurie hitchhikes back to town to be with Doug, her parents have to confront the reality of their daughter's relationship. Tom and Trina explore the delights of monogamy to reestablish the trust between them, and Janet takes Roger to see a psychiatrist because she thinks he's in a crisis, but ends up taking a session of her own.

  • The Deckers restore trust by practicing temporary monogamy after Tom's faux pas, then agree it's time to return to open fun. Bruce hopes to force a 'return to normal' by taking his family and Rick camping camping. The knaves settle their bitterness over Samantha with a rumble, but Laurie runs away to be with Doug, who calmly arranges for her parents to catch up and soothes even Bruce, airing respect and reason. Roger is less amused to be dragged to a therapist by Janet then to see her hostile attitude lead to walking out, however surprised later to hear she returned to refuse payment for 'services not rendered' but actually was made to face her bossy attitude and hypocritical expectations are the problem, not sweet 'softie' Roger.
