Really good if you love silents and can appreciate the style.

"Police Force, New York City" is a short included on disk one of the DVD set "Perils of the New Land"--a collection of films about the immigrant experience in America.

This well made film from 1915 stars Pat O'Malley (not to be confused with the British actor J. Pat O'Malley) as the title character--a motorcycle cop who is in love with Nora. The problem, however, is that Nora's brother is a crook. She doesn't know it, nor does McQuade--but McQuade's rival sure does and uses this to try to win Nora AND make McQuade look bad. At first, his sleazy plan seems to work, but when McQuade goes off to capture the gang himself, he saves the day and is adored by all...except for the jerk-face rival....and the criminals! While in today's world "McQuade of the Traffic Squad" looks pretty simplistic and archaic, for the time it was made it was a dandy film. Plus, it sure packs a ton of entertainment into its 15 minute running time! Well made and worth seeing if you are a nut about the silents!
