Film Review: Now You See Me 2

9 June 2016 10:11 AM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Synopsis: After fleeing from a stage show, the illusionists (Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson) known as the Four Horsemen find themselves in more trouble in Macau, China. Devious tech wizard Walter Mabry (Daniel Radcliffe) forces the infamous magicians to steal a powerful chip that can control all of the world's computers. Meanwhile, vengeful FBI agent Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) hatches his own plot against Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman), the man he blames for the death of his father.

Remember when sequels were quaint? You probably can’t, and that’s okay. It was a long time ago when cable wasn’t digital and people dreamed about what the world-wide web might have to offer. For the purpose of this review, let’s say there are two kinds of sequels. There are those that aim to delve deeper into the characters audiences loved before. 'The Division' Is On Its Way To The Big Screen, With Gyllenhaal As Its Lead!

2 June 2016 7:27 AM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Jake Gyllenhaal, undeterred by his last outing in a film based on a Ubisoft video game, is attached to produce and star in a big screen adaptation of The Division. Gyllenhaal's last foray into this territory was the Disney misfire known as Prince Of Persia. That film came out on Memorial Day weekend in 2010, and only managed to come in third- behind Shrek Forever After and Sex And The City 2, while on its way to a subpar $336 million worldwide haul that all-but insured that the film wouldn't lead to the Pirates Of The Caribbean-style franchise Disney hoped it would.

Regardless of that, Gyllenhaal is back in business with Ubisoft, and The Division will be based on the studio's fastest-selling game ever. The Tom Clancy game, which made the developer $330 million in just five days, is set in a dystopian New York City that's been ravaged by a smallpox outbreak. »

'Neighbors 2' Tops Thursday Previews with $1.67M, 'Angry Birds' Hits $800k & 'Nice Guys' Finish Last

19 May 2016 3:35 PM, PDT | Box Office Mojo | See recent BoxOfficeMojo.com news »

It could be a photo finish atop this weekend's box office charts as Captain America: Civil War will attempt to hold off Sony's Angry Birds. Meanwhile, Universal's Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising faces a situation where the sequel isn't likely to top the original and Warner Bros. is hoping for the best with The Nice Guys, which has enjoyed the best reviews among the weekend's new wide releases, but finds itself jostling for attention among several higher profile releases. The fight atop the box office will have a lot to do with whether or not Sony's Angry Birds is able to breakout as it charges into 3,932 theaters. Based on Rovio's mobile platform video game, the 3D animated feature carries a $73 million budget and a strong ensemble of comedic voice talent. The budgetary figure places it in the same range as Illumination's Despicable Me franchise of films, the first of which was »

Ricky Gervais vs. Hollywood: His Most F--ked-Up Golden Globes Jokes

7 January 2016 11:10 AM, PST | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

During his three-year stint as Golden Globes host from 2010-2012, Ricky Gervais earned a reputation for being politically incorrect and aggressive with his humor. Oh, how he treasured that edgy badge of dishonor: "I guarantee they will not invite me back," the comedian predicted after his last gig. Now that Gervais returns this Sunday, plenty of people are wagering how he'll bite the hand that feeds him.
