When two groups of people (a group of men seeking escape from their wives, and a group of women wanting to get away for the weekend) meet in a remote forest, their lives become intertwined and their plans are ruined by the appearance of a monstrous beast, which has decided to feed on human flesh. That is the basis for this fun little independent Canadian monster movie by director Brett Kelly. Let me start off by saying that this is not a great movie and it's not destined to be a classic-probably not even a cult classic. But it is entertaining. The acting is passable, the dialog is fun and at times, unintentionally funny. It moves along quickly enough that it doesn't ever get boring. I have to say that at times the shaky cam, almost fluid, drunken look, got me a bit dizzy and this got annoying at times.I think the highlight of this movie, for me at least, is the monster's appearances. I really liked the beast's costume and its mannerisms. Somewhat of a cross between sasquatch, a bear, a wild hog and the Beast from Cocteau's La Belle et la Bete, this monster was really "cool". Kudos to the creator of this animal.I'm a big fan of "B" horror and science fiction movies. I like them a lot, at least in general. This one was fun and kept my attention throughout and is worth a watch for other "B" movie fans, at least.
