Storyline

Ralf and Johnny are expatriates who experience life in one another's country. Ralf is a young artist from Germany living in America. Johnny is a young artist from America living in Germany. Both made an art form out of life itself and believe that the new country of residence is the only place where an existence free from social and cultural expectations seems possible. However, they made an unusual choice: being a foreigner. As Ralf and Johnny's lives are being documented over the course of one year, their discovery of the "foreigner self" marks the beginning of a long and rocky road between finding and losing oneself. Moreover, reality always seems to be catching up with people. Written by Andre Enzensberger

Genuine and inspiring

Loved this take on two ex-pats trying to explore and understand a foreign world while making sense of the one they came from.

The developing dynamic between Ralf and his adoptive family of "Venetians" was heart-warming, raw, and intriguing. I also found Johnny's experience abroad to be fascinating. Watching him take the leap out of his comfort zone, exploring a new land with an unfamiliar language and culture, was truly inspiring.

This film ignited the travel flame inside of me. I have become truly motivated to take more chances, see more things, and explore unknown territory.

Considering this was the director's first full-length film, I appreciate the point of view he decided to take. The overall look and feel of the film was both fun and honest. I look forward to seeing what he brings next.
