Shaun Eddleston reviews the September 12th edition of Monday Night Raw

Following a pretty lacklustre episode last week (read my review here), and a rather impressive PPV from the Smackdown brand over weekend (read my review here), Raw needed to step up its game in a big way, especially with the next PPV on the horizon, Clash of Champions. Could it regain its footing as we saw the WWE Universal Champion face one of the most polarising figures in the current climate of WWE?

Raw General Manager Mick Foley addressed the Raw Women’s Championship situation

Mick Foley kicked off the evening’s broadcast and introduced fans to women’s champion Charlotte.

Frustrated by the loss suffered at the hands of Bayley last week, she attempted to force Dana Brooke to apologizse to her for the defeat. Sasha Banks interrupted, soon followed by the aforementioned Bayley. The segment broke down »

Believe it not video games actually have their own national day and it falls on September 12th. The crew at Cinelinx are figuring out ways to make this a national holiday, but we thought we could still celebrate too. So we compiled a list of video games from every generation you should enjoy to see the evolution of video games over the years.

The First Video Game Ever

The earliest video game on record seems to be Bertie the Brain which was a tic-tac-toe game that put human vs the computer. This game was developed in Toronto and didn’t include any type of physics or anything particular special, but it was technically the first arcade game created purely to play a game. With that in mind I dug up a tic-tac-toe game online that you can check out:

I would have never guessed that 17 years ago, I would be seeing one of the films that launched something that would change horror cinema. The Blair Witch Project isn’t the first “found footage” film but it was the film that defined the term. I love the film and it is still one of the only films that I remember seeing where my heart skipped a beat during the ending. Now, director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett (You’re Next, The GuestA Horrible Way to Die) are bringing a new film to the Blair Witch legacy known simply as Blair Witch. We have Admit Two passes for you to check out the film next Tuesday before it is unleashed in theatres on September 16.

6 September 2016 2:31 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Remote forests contain some of the world’s dark secrets, at least according to filmmakers who routinely set movies in dense thickets to capitalize on their creepiness. Lorcan Finnegan’s debut feature “Without Name” follows Eric (Alan McKenna), a land surveyor in the throes of a midlife crisis, who is tasked by a mysterious client to go on a prolonged survey excursion in the Irish woodlands. Soon, Eric’s comfortably predictable city life is replaced by the chaos of nature. By the time his research assistant, Olivia (Niamh Algar), arrives at the remote cottage where he is staying, Eric has become disturbed by the woodlands, and wonders if unnameable fears will take permanent root in his head. Watch an exclusive clip from the film below.

‘Ice Guardians’ Exclusive Trailer: Sports Doc Explores The History of The Enforcer In The NHL

25 August 2016 1:40 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Many sports documentaries focus on the inspirational story of an individual or a team overcoming great odds to achieve greatness, but few examine one particular position on a team, especially one so misunderstood and controversial. The new documentary “Ice Guardians” journeys into the lives of those who perform undoubtedly the toughest job within the National Hockey League today: The enforcer, an unofficial role whose job it is to deter and respond to violent play by the opposition.

Few understand this position and even fewer appreciate what is involved in becoming one. Born out of self policing an inherently violent game, the role now faces the scrutiny of national newspapers, blogs, and TV news casts. Due to its violent nature, it has drawn opinions from both fans and critics alike. But what led to its spectacular rise? What purpose does it really serve? »

Interview: John Michael is the One-Man Show in ‘Dementia Me’

15 August 2016 9:28 AM, PDT | | See recent news »

Chicago – No one would call talented one-man-show artist John Michael conventional, at least if they are in their right mind. So ironically, after tackling sexually transmitted disease in his last solo performance, he takes on the vagrancies of old age and caring for elderly patients in his truly heartfelt “Dementia Me.”

“Dementia Me” will run at the Den Theatre within the Wicker Park neighborhood in Chicago from August 15th through September 12th, 2016, on consecutive Mondays at 8pm (details below). This solo performance is a tour de force, using mostly balloons and party favors for props – Michael even invites everyone to a “birthday party” for one of the patients before the show. The emotions in the show will affect anyone who has known the heartbreak of seeing loved ones become less of themselves as they age (which is practically everybody), and how that state of being leads the main character himself to other revelations. »
