'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' helps set record-breaking domestic box office year

29 December 2012 12:04 PM, PST | Twilight Examiner | See recent Twilight Examiner news »

With almost $800 million in the worldwide box office tank and more than $283 million of it earned on the domestic front, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 has had quite an impressive theatrical run indeed. So much so, in fact, that according to Box Office Mojo, it's one of the top five films which are responsible for Hollywood's biggest domestic box office year over all. View slideshow: 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' Coming in at fifth place below The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, The Hunger Games and Skyfall in domestic ticket sales, Breaking Dawn - Part 2 helped catapult this year's domestic box office numbers to $10.6 billion, a fraction more than the previous record of $10.59 billion in 2009 (for which The Twilight Saga: New Moon was partially responsible). Are the 'Twilight' movies better than the books?

29 December 2012 9:49 AM, PST | Twilight Examiner | See recent Twilight Examiner news »

Now that all five installments to the Twilight Saga film franchise are out, it's a good time to raise the question of whether the films were as good or better than the book series. The Huffington Post posits that Twilight was a better movie than its literary basis, but that declaration is of course controversial. View slideshow: 'Twilight' Stephenie Meyer herself has indicated that The Twilight Saga: New Moon was her overall favorite movie adaptation of the series because of the difficulty of translation (and the fact that she adores director Chris Weitz). Other fans, too, have said that they fancied the slight twist of events in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 more than the ending of the book version o »

Extreme Fans: Documentary Into the Twilight Haze Examines Twilight's Impact on Women

26 December 2012 11:29 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Just because the Twilight franchise is done, doesn't mean we are done with the Twilight franchise.

Since the first Twilight movie was released in 2008, the Twilight phenomenon has swept the globe, with the franchise's final installment, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, earning $784 million in worldwide box office. Many Twilight fans have openly admitted that the movies and books have become a full-blown obsession, even an addiction, at times coming at a cost of other relationships in their lives.

So why has Twilight struck such a chord with so many? New York psychologist Dr. Niloo Dardashti believes she has the answer, but will only reveal it in her documentary Into the Twilight Haze, as detailed in the doc's press release. After all, psychologists don't offer all their advice for free.

2Cello and Naya Rivera cover 'Twilight' soundtrack's 'Supermassive Black Hole'

19 December 2012 11:33 AM, PST | Twilight Examiner | See recent Twilight Examiner news »

Here's a fun one. 2Cellos (Sulic and Hauser), a duo of well-known rock cellists, joined up with Glee actress Naya Rivera to do the attached wild cover of Muse's "Supermassive Black Hole" which appeared on the original motion picture soundtrack for Twilight. As you probably remember, the song appeared in the film during the baseball game sequence near the end, and Muse became a fixture of the Twilight Saga soundtracks (contributing two other songs to The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's albums as well) thanks to the popularity of the tune and Stephenie Meyer's undying love for the band. "Supermassive Black Hole," by the way, is the only Muse Twilight song which wasn't exclusive for the soundtrack series. It appeared on their fourth album, "Black . »

'Twilight' wolf pack star Bronson Pelletier runs into some legal trouble

19 December 2012 7:25 AM, PST | Twilight Examiner | See recent Twilight Examiner news »

Twilight Saga wolfpack star Bronson Pelletier has gotten himself into a bit of legal pickle. TMZ released two reports about the actor, who portrayed the comedic Quileute Jared in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1. The site first reported that Pelletier was arrested after an incident at Los Angeles' Lax airport. Reportedly, he was turned in as an "unruly passenger" who was too drunk to take his flight, so he was taken off the plane and on to another flight area. He must not have liked the move very much because he was then caught "urinating in public by the gate." Tsk. Stephenie Meyer shares new 'Twilight' details

The Hollywood Reporter has a fantastic new interview with Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer, and in it, she gave quite a few new details about her thoughts on the series at its close. One of the subjects up for discussion was that original draft of the script for Twilight. As she explained recently on Jimmy Kimmel Live, it was way off-base and almost made it so the movie didn't happen. View slideshow: Stephenie Meyer According to Meyer, the only reason it did end up going through was a little begging on the part of film studio Summit Entertainment. "We got lucky where with Catherine Hardwicke, she really wanted to make it like the book. There was an original script before we were with Summit that was so completely bizarrely different," she ex ...
