Brace yourself for a wave of CGI explosion as new Geostorm trailer arrives

6 July 2017 9:28 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Independence Day scribe, Dean Devlin, makes his directorial debut in the forthcoming disaster movie, Geostorm. And to give us a further taste of what to expect another trailer has just dropped.

Related: Geostorm first trailer.

The new trailer gives us another impressive look at the visual wonderment of CGI in creating a world under threat by natural forces that can’t and shouldn’t be controlled by manmade machines and Gerard Butler’s race against time, yet again, to save the world from impending danger.

It’s funny how life sometimes imitates art, anyone would think Donald Trump may have gotten hold of the script for Geostorm in which satellites are built to control global climate change and took it quite literally, tweaked it a little for his own mind to digest when he boldly stated climate change wasn’t caused by humans.

Duncan Jones opens up about the troubled production of Warcraft

20 June 2017 8:34 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Last night, director Duncan Jones and producer Stuart Fenegan presented a Q&A screening of last year’s Warcraft in London’s Leicester Square. Amongst talking about what he would have liked to have done with Warcraft 2, Jones opened up about the troubled production of the movie, comparing the studio politics to Game of Thrones.

“One of the things that was absolute gut-punched was [the narrative],” he said when asked about the battles he lost with the studio. “It’s such an expensive process to make a movie like this, and when you make a decision to exorcise a scene during script stage or anywhere down the line right up towards the end, it’s never coming back. Because it’s too expensive to backtrack though all the animation and effects. People ask me when the directors cut is coming out, and there will never be a director’s cut. Unfortunately. There »

Duncan Jones reveals what his story would have been for Warcraft 2

20 June 2017 4:42 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Warning: There are spoilers for Warcraft in this post…

Last night Warcraft director Duncan Jones and producer Stuart Fenegan presented a screening of the movie at the Prince Charles Cinema in London’s Leicester Square. Jones and Fenegan spoke openly about the issues they had making the movie, comparing the studio politics to Game of Thrones at one point, and the director revealed where the story would have gone had Warcraft 2 been green lit (which doesn’t seem likely).

“This first film is about establishing the world, and showing Durotan helping his son escape a dying planet,” Jones told the audience. “So to me the idea over the course of three films would be for Thrall to fulfil that vision of Durotan to create a new homeland for the Orcs. So in [the sequel] it would be the adolescent years of that baby, and anyone who does know their Warcraft stories would »

Duncan Jones says no conversations have taken place about Warcraft 2

12 June 2017 7:15 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Last year’s Warcraft wasn’t the hit many were hoping for and despite setting itself up for one, a sequel was in doubt after a disastrous domestic box office run. There were rumours that a sequel could still happen and there was even a story it could be a Chinese-centric release following fantastic box office numbers there, which helped push Warcraft pass $400 million worldwide – making it the biggest video game movie of all-time.

Jones has been very vocal about the difficulties he had working on the movie – even saying 40 minutes had been cut and it died by death of 1,000 cuts – but was willing to work on a sequel. He recently announced a special screening of the movie at the Prince Charles Cinema in London with a Q&A afterwards, and a fan asked him on Twitter if any conversations about Warcraft 2 had taken place. To which the director simply wrote, »

Iron Fist Season 1 Episode 6 Review – ‘Immortal Emerges from Cave’

22 March 2017 3:14 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Shaun Munro reviews the sixth episode of Iron Fist

Iron Fist‘s sixth episode is directed by Wu-Tang Clan leader and martial arts aficionado RZA (who, in a probably-not-too-coincidental turn, directed 2012’s entertaining martial arts flick The Man with the Iron Fists), and what a difference it makes to have a clear fan of the genre putting his all into the show. The result is an outing that feels decidedly more pulpy and, yes, comic book-inspired than the prior five episodes.

This installment sees Danny lured into a challenge from The Hand, where he is forced to face off against a number of the organisation’s most ferocious charges. The episode’s opening sequence introduces the adversaries in giddily entertaining style, most notably slick assassin Scythe (David Sakurai), who we meet as he’s effortlessly finishing up a hit at a Japanese karaoke bar, complete with his own spirited rendition »
