Storyline

After his and Penny's first date, Leonard is in denial about what Penny's non-committal attitude toward a second date means. In reality and what Penny divulges to Sheldon in confidence is that her non-committal attitude is due to feeling intellectually inadequate, so much so that she even lied to Leonard about finishing community college. She is afraid that Leonard will ultimately get bored with her. The problem with Sheldon is that she told him this information before she vowed him to secrecy. Knowing that there is no way he can keep this secret from Leonard, Sheldon takes extreme measures to ensure that he keeps his promise to Penny. But these measures have a profound effect on both Howard and Raj, who may force Sheldon back to the situation of telling Leonard. Written by Huggo

Goofs

The address for Howard's house has changed. In Season One's "The Dumpling Paradox", the address was 3150, as seen to the left of the door, below the porch light. Now, and for the rest of the show, the address is 845, as seen to the right of the door. Given that Howard "sleeps in the same room where his bassinet was" (as stated by Leonard in "The Maternal Capacitance"), it is obvious that the Wolowitz's could not have moved. See more »

Howard Wolowitz: Are you having a second date?
Leonard Hofstadter: No. She said we would just wing it.

CHUCK LORRE PRODUCTIONS, #215 *Mr. Misogyny's Tips For Breaking Through the Glass Ceiling SHRILL BAD, DUSKY GOOD: No man can happily work or vote for a woman whose voice sounds like a mom or wife yelling at him. Whether running a Fortune Five Hundred company or running for office, women should practice speaking like Kathleen Turner in Body Heat. (If you have small children present, rent Who Framed Roger Rabbit and check out Jessica Rabbit.) POWER WORDS: Down through the ages there have been secret words and phrases that a select group of women have known and used to give them control over men. Use them wisely and you'll be on the other side of that glass ceiling before you know it. A short list includes: panties, huge, amazing and "anything you want, just hurry." For increased effectiveness, say these power words like Kathleen Turner. BOOBS: If you got' em, flaunt' em. If you don't got' em, buy' em. (CAUTION: This will cause other women to hate you. Do not despair. Once you and your terrific rack are running things, you can fire the jealous bitches.) POLITICALLY CORRECT FLIRTING: There is no such thing. That being said, if, by subtle words or actions, you can make a man feel sexually viable, he will act like a fool and you can steal his job. If you think that's cruel, you're not ready to break through the glass ceiling and should instead consider marrying a fat guy with hedge fund money and a history of confusing his erection pills with his heart medication. * The views and opinions of Mr. Misogyny are not endorsed, held, or shared by Chuck Lorre Productions, Chuck Lorre, anyone who works for Chuck Lorre, or any of his friends, neighbors and relatives. The Bad Fish Pardigm was a nearly excellent second season premiere episode of "The Big Bang Theory"
25 September 2008 | by (Baton Rouge, La.) – See all my reviews

As Leonard and Penny are walking to Penny's apartment after their date, a camera is watching their every move. When Leonard arrives back at his place, we find Howard and Raj playing the scenes from that camera from their computer. Leonard thinks his date went well but Raj and Howard beg to differ as they keep replaying Penny's reactions. Sheldon, as usual, doesn't care. The next day, as Sheldon and Penny are washing clothes in the laundry room, Penny tells him a secret she doesn't want Leonard to know: She lied about graduating from community college. Sheldon says he'll try and wonders when she and Penny were ever friends. After a while, though, Sheldon tells Penny he can't do it and Penny says find a way. So he moves out of Leonard's apartment and crashes first with Raj, who gets annoyed when Sheldon insults his favorite Indian actress, and then Howard's mom's house as the son gets irritated at Sheldon's counting favorite Catwomen actresses and X-Men. When Howard brings a slightly drugged Sheldon back to Leonard, Sheldon tells all. That makes Leonard the next day give Penny a flyer for a community college which insults Penny even more as she closes the door on him. At least she still doesn't know about the overhead cameras...This was a very funny episode of "The Big Bang Theory" that was presented as the second season premiere. The dialogue between Sheldon and Penny in the laundry room was so hilarious! In fact, pretty much everything about Sheldon was spot on. Can't wait for the next episode when Sara Gilbert becomes a regular as the returning Leslie Winkle. Until next time...
