My favourite episode by far

Warning: Spoilers
As an avid viewer of NCIS for a long time now, I have shared experiences and relationships with the characters. I enjoy the episodes where characters pasts are dragged up, and I think it is good to see more about where Gibbs has come from. The touching story of him meeting his first wife (Shannon) is heartfelt, and the relationship between Gibbs and his father is different than the relationship held between himself and other characters, although, Gibbs attitude is exactly what any long term fan would expect. Mark Harmon is able to play the role very well, as in all episodes, and the plot twist is very good. This episode defines a series that I can only describe as perfect.

This is my favourite TV show, and this is my favourite episode.

A Classic within a Classic

Warning: Spoilers
A bittersweet episode where Gibbs is faced with dealing with his 'private past' whilst investigating the case. The anguish and posturing between father and son on meeting up after nearly 20 years without contact is fascinating to watch in the way it develops. Both tackling their loss of Wife/Mother/Daughter(in law)in different ways but both grieving at the expense of their own relationship, due to misunderstandings and lack of communication. Only for the bridge to be crossed and reconciliation in the common cause. Intertwined is the story through Gibbs eyes of how he first met Shannon, a love that never dies, whilst his team try to come to terms with the fact that not only does he have a past, he has a father. A compelling episode in a Series that continues to grow, never disappoints in how the characters deal with their relationships within the wider changing team, and in amongst all of this is a case to be investigated.

Absolutely my favorite.

As I'm writing this, NCIS is currently in its 16th season and still going strong. However, as with any series, there is always an episode that stands out and becomes unforgettable. This episode is it. R.I.P., Ralph Waite.

Mystery, intrigue and the softer side of Gibbs. Skillful use of flashbacks as a story-telling device.

There is no reason to pad this review into 150 characters. Less is more.
