Storyline

Ted is telling his children about a series of seemingly unrelated events that took place in 2009 all at around the same time: Robin getting food poisoning and vomiting on air; Barney miscalculating that a Czech super model will be his two hundredth sex partner; and Marshall overusing poster sized charts he has made up by the graphics department at GNB. Why is he telling them these stories in combination? Because they all led to him standing on a certain street corner at a certain time which resulted in him meeting their mother. As Ted is standing on that corner at that time, he is tapped on the shoulder by... Written by Huggo

Trivia

In this episode Robin had food poisoning and Barney and Ted made fun of her saying she's pregnant because she vomited. In real life, the actress, Cobie Smulders who played Robin was actually pregnant at that time. See more »

Goofs

During Marshall's presentation at the bar, he mentions Barney's 16 years of sexual activity. In How I Met Your Mother: The Yips Barney mentions losing his virginity at age 23 to Rhonda. This would make Ted 31 while Barney is 39, much older than he is portrayed. See more »

A Let Down
8 January 2015 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

After a return to form it's back down hill for "How I Met Your Mother"

Plot In A Paragraph: Ted was on the verge of scoring his first big client and went to a meeting dressed like a cowboy, saying he was born to design a restaurant in the shape of a cowboy hat. Robin told him to go for a walk and get a bagel. He went to see what the universe had waiting for him. He grabbed a yellow umbrella an headed out the door. Meanwhile a flash back showed Barney had showed Ted a photo of Petra Petrova, "Bro's Life" magazine's girl of the year. Barney had a date with her. He said Petra would be the 200th girl he had sex with. Barney reveals his quest was based on a kid in middle school named Matthew Panning, who claimed he'd had sex with 100 girls. Barney said one day he'll have hooked up with 200.

Not even the brilliant Neil Patrick Harris (whose subplot I did enjoy) can raise this episode any higher than the average score I'm giving it.

A let down.
