Storyline

Robert Banyon is shot while watching and recording a horse race, alone, from his private luxury suite. The murder weapon turns out to be a cattle 'bolt gun', found hidden in his horses' paddock. Stable hand, Terrance Chase, has obvious access. He was visited by the scorned Chicago 'would be' stable partner Wayne Tully. Horse vet Mark Gantry's abandoned son, Billy, leads Horatio to a connection with Ryan from his gambling days. At the Gantry home he fought off Russian mob lord Ivan Sarnoff's goon. There is race cheating. Cocaine seems to link everything. Written by KGF Vissers

The team deduces that the hit man had recently arrived from Moscow because his watch was set 11 hours ahead (and proceed to examine recent flight manifests). This is true for California, but Moscow is only 8 hours ahead of Miami. See more »

Horse Feathers
22 July 2011 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I love horse racing but this episode was "fair" at best, running somewhere between "place" and "out of the money." It's main story is about a horse owner who is shot to death in his luxury suite at the track. In a subplot, one of the people involved is an old CSI nemesis "Ivan Sarnoff" (Andrew Divoff).

In the end, when Ivan is taken away he tells Caine that problems in his CSI division have just begun. What exactly that means and what's his involvement, we don't know but surely trouble is ahead for some of the CSI team.

Anyway, the story involves race fixing, drugs, a crooked jockey, an obnoxious owner or two and a groom (someone who takes care of the horses and stalls) whom "Calleigh" seems to have hots for, which is not good news for "Eric."
