- In the season finale, Chris L. and Roberto are invited to meet Ali's family and see Ali for one last date. Will she find love ... or leave paradise with a broken heart?
- The season finale is finally here. Our intrepid bachelorette DeAnna must choose between Jason and Jesse.
"The dramatic conclusion of the Bachelorette starts right now," host Chris intones.
A shirtless Jason contemplates what a long, strange trip it has been so far. "I came on this journey to find true love," he says. We see a brief recap of Jason's relationship with DeAnna. "I have no regrets," he muses. "DeAnna has brought something into my life that I would not have been able to get anywhere else."
Now a shirtless Jesse contemplates. "I'm the skinny white-kid snowboarder," Jesse says. "I feel blessed that I'm still here." A montage of their many classic moments follows. "She just takes me out of wherever I am and puts me in DeAnna-land," Jesse says.
With that, we're off to commercial-land.
Back from break, DeAnna prepares to introduce the suitors to her parents, brother and sister in Georgia. "Today is the most important day in this entire process," DeAnna says. The family says that they learned their lesson from bachelor Brad. They will not be so immediately accepting this time.
The doorbell rings. It's Jason carrying flowers and a picnic basket of goodies. Dad wants to know a little about Jason. The bachelor explains that his ex wife left him for another man and that he has a 3-year-old son.
"She moves immediately into a family," dad says. "I'm not sure if she's ready for this right now."
DeAnna's sister takes Jason into a separate room while the bachelorette chats with her brother. The gist of both conversations is that Jason really likes DeAnna and DeAnna really likes Jason. "There's no doubt," Jason says.
Jason and dad go outside for a little one-on-one. "I want to get your permission to propose to her," Jason says. Dad is impressed. No one has ever asked him that before. "I appreciate your sincerity and if she chooses you, you have my blessing," dad says.
Now it's Jesses turn. The man is clearly a nervous wreck. DeAnna's brother notes that Jesse has sweaty palms.
"He's not a guy that DeAnna has normally dated," dad says.
Dad begins the grilling. He wants to know what Jesse is going to do when his snowboarding career is over. Jesse doesn't have a clear answer. The two go outside for more intense questioning. Dad warns that the larger men in the family will come "hunt" Jesse down if he ends up with DeAnna and doesn't come to Atlanta for regular visits.
Inside, DeAnna and his sister talk. DeAnna worries that Jesse is so nervous that he will not be able to show the family what he is really like.
"I was overwhelmed," Jesse admits. "Man, I blew it."
DeAnna and dad sit down to talk. Pops is obviously more enamored with Jason. But is DeAnna? "You have to wonder if he is in the same place as you are in your life," dad says of Jesse. "That is probably going to be your deciding factor."
DeAnna is distraught. "I do not know what I'm going to do," she says.
A few words from our sponsors later, DeAnna explains that the boys will now meet her extended family. The guys can expect a "big, fat Greek party." Host Chris has already revealed the two suitors will be at the same party ... although neither knows it.
Jesse arrives first. After a few minutes, the doorbell rings. It's Jason with more flowers and a bottle of wine.
The two are surprised -- and not entirely pleased -- to see each other. They sit down on the couch with DeAnna nustled between them. Awwwwwkward.
"To see and know and hear that she has feelings for Jesse is hard," Jason says.
Now it's time for lunch. Jason ingratiates himself to the grandparents by asking them for the secret to a long marriage. Gramps tells Jason to just always agree with his wife. Grandma gives Jason her blessing.
Sister-in-law and sister sit with Jesse. He admits to crying over DeAnna twice during the last week. This confession almost makes sis cry. "I've never felt so strongly about someone so quick," Jesse says.
Jesse then pulls dad aside. "If DeAnna does feel like I am the guy for her, it would obviously mean the world to me to have your blessing to propose to her," Jesse says. Dad isn't immediately forthcoming, but eventually gives the long-haired snowboarding dude his "stamp of approval."
"Just remember one thing," dad says. "When you have my beautiful daughter with you, you keep the hair short."
The two "nug."
DeAnna says goodbye to the guys in the driveway. "It's hard to say if my life would be better with Jesse versus Jason," DeAnna tells the camera. Back with the fam, DeAnna asks who her sister and sister-in-law would choose. Sister would pick Jason. Sister-in-law would pick Jesse. Thanks a lot, ladies.
We return to the Bahamas. DeAnna contemplates her situation in a bikini. We also learn that Jeremy hasn't left the island quite yet. He wants to see the woman who rejected him. DeAnna agrees in the interests of sympathy, citing her experience with Brad (as she often does).
Thus, the man DeAnna rejected a week ago saunters back into her life, as well as into the lives of those viewers who thought they had seen the last of the beau.
"I know this is tough for you, but I need you to know what is going on," Jeremy says. "I really do feel like you're making a big mistake with me."
He pleads his case. He cries. DeAnna cries. She says that she has been in his place before with Brad.
"It's just not in my heart," DeAnna says.
"So you don't think that after everything you've said to me that I'm not worth keeping around?" he asks.
"I will not lead you on," she says, weeping. "I will not drag this out until the last day and promise you something that I can not keep right now ... I am not in love."
Jeremy kisses her on the cheek and then leaves forever ... again.
DeAnna meets Jesse at the airport. The two climb into a prop plane and go for a romantic flight. They land near their own tiny island. The two look at fish in the crystal-clear water and then watch the sun set. "It couldn't have been any better," Jesse says. "I could spend forever with her."
Later, the happy not-quite-couple snuggle on a hotel bed. Jesse presents DeAnna with a "Book of Thoughts." It contains pictures of the pair and Jesse's romantic words written in blue marker. They make out.
Jason and DeAnna meet on a dock for their date. The two will go scuba diving with sharks. DeAnna felt Jason was "playing it safe" early but not anymore.
"Sharks and people aren't supposed to hang out together," Jason observes. "But it's just going to be a new adventure and I love adventures."
Later, the couple eats a quiet dinner in Jason's hotel room. Jason has a gift for DeAnna: a board game that Jason has designed. DeAnna thinks its the Cutest. Thing. Ever. They make out.
"I melted," DeAnna says.
The next day, DeAnna emerges from her hotel room in a contemplative mood. It's the day of her big decision. Jason and Jesse, meanwhile, go shopping for wedding rings. Jason seems right at home choosing diamond-studded jewelry. Jesse is so nervous that his stomach hurts. The poor guy is as white as a sheet.
"I have found the person that I believe that I am meant to be with," DeAnna says.
Jason cries on his ride to the rose ceremony. Jesse cries at the thought of being rejected.
Host Chris escorts DeAnna to her spot on the beachside dais. Jason is up first. He gets down on one knee. "No, I can't," DeAnna says. "You're this amazing, perfect person ... And even though I'm falling in love with you, I'm in love with someone else."
Jason is obviously crushed. DeAnna says that she meant everything she has ever said to Jason, but can't marry him because her heart is "somewhere else."
"I really did fall in love with you," Jason says.
The not-to-be couple hug one final time. DeAnna cries. Jason says goodbye and DeAnna walks him out. "I'm completely shocked," he says. "Why me? I was so ready to be in love again." Jason admits that his body armor is back up.
"I am extremely confident about the man that I have chosen," DeAnna says as Jesse pulls up in a limo. "I feel like I can not live without him."
DeAnna's "soul mate" steps out the car and walks toward the love of his life. The two hug.
"I would never have thought that this process was real and that I could fall in love here," Jesse says. "But when I look at you, the word that always pops into my mind is 'forever.'"
Jesse gets down on one knee: "Will you spend forever with me?"
"Yes," DeAnna says.
He slides the ring onto her finger. They kiss.
"I love you," she says. "I've waited so long to say that."
A slow-motion montage of their many special moments together follows. Jesse accepts the final rose.
It's happily ever after.
