Christopher Nolan on Zack Snyder and Man of Steel

28 December 2012 10:53 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Having successfully reinvented the Batman movie franchise - and redefined the entire superhero genre - with his Dark Knight trilogy, Christopher Nolan is now busy helping to bring another DC icon to the screen as producer on Zack Snyder's forthcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Nolan has spoken of his admiration for Snyder's work on the film, as well as touching upon the challenges facing the Watchmen director as he attempts to realise the world of the Man of Tomorrow and make us believe Henry Cavill (Immortals) can fly.

"Zack was the perfect man to take this on; he is unbelievably skilled at creating a coherent, cohesive world. Whether it’s a very stylized world, like 300, or something that’s more challenging, more varied, like he did with Watchmen. In my honest appraisal, taking on Superman and creating that world is far »

Poll: Best Archer of 2012

18 December 2012 10:00 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

You read all about it on basically every news site and pop culture blog: 2012 was the year of the cinematic archer. Every big movie had a character stringing up a bow and arrow and taking down enemies from afar.

But who was the greatest movie archer of year? Is it one of the heavy-hitters like Hawkeye and Katniss? Or does your taste favor the Pixar variety?

It's time to voice your opinion in the poll below!

Katniss Everdeen - "The Hunger Games"

"The Girl on Fire" or "The Girl That Set Off A Million Trend Pieces About Archery," Katniss Everdeen is most likely the reason we're having this discussion in the first place. It also helps to know that Jennifer Lawrence has some serious real-life archery skills.

Clint "Hawkeye" Barton - "The Avengers"

No one comes close to touching Hawkeye when it comes to accuracy. The man shot an arrow »

'Man of Steel' Trailer: Short on Action, Long on Heartstring-Tugging Music (Video)

11 December 2012 7:02 PM, PST | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

The new trailer for Zach Snyder's big-screen take on the Superman myth "Man of Steel" hit the Internet on Tuesday, and while it's reasonably certain that this will be a superhero movie, the trailer comes across more like an inspirational Hallmark film. While there are brief moments of "Immortals" star Henry Cavill in action as the cape-clad hero, the 2 1/2-minute trailer leans more toward soulful expressions and swelling music that seem intent on making it clear that this will be a particularly meaningful entry in the superhero-movie canon. Warner Bros. has just posted the newest trailer for Man Of Steel online, and.......Wow! I wasn't too gone on Zach Snyder taking on Superman, but judging from this, he should be in safe hands. Pictures and Legendary Pictures comes “Man of Steel,” starring Henry Cavill (“Immortals,” TV’s “The Tudors”) in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, under the direction of Zack Snyder (“300,” “Watchmen”). Christopher Nolan talks Man of Steel

6 December 2012 3:37 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

To promote the arrival of The Dark Knight Rises on Blu-ray and DVD earlier this week, The Playlist sat down with Christopher Nolan to discuss his acclaimed Batman trilogy. As well as reiterating once more that Tdkr wraps up his Dark Knight saga - "I'll say definitively again, I am done with the Batman films, the trilogy is completed. It ended in the manner we had envisioned" - the conversation shifted towards DC Comics' other iconic superhero, with Nolan taking a moment to comment on director Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot, Man of Steel.

"I wouldn’t want people to think we're doing for Superman what we did for Batman... [Man of Steel] is very much Zack’s film and I think people are going to love what he's done. I think it's really remarkable to take on that character. Superman is a completely different character than Batman. So you can't »

Following todays news regarding the forthcoming Warner Bros. superhero match-up, Justice League and just who those DC characters will be up against come 2015, we’ve the new teaser poster for Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel, with our hero being led in cuffs (possibly a plot detail forced by the villain Zod).

The reboot will see the Son Of Krypton given an intense real-world make over as producer Christopher Nolan and director Snyder aim to get the comic-book legend ‘so serious’. Henry Cavill takes the title role, last seen in the likes of Immortals and in The Cold Light Of Day, and whose alter-ego will attempt to save the planet from Michael Shannon’s ruthless bad-guy in the blockbuster set to hit cinemas next summer.

Riddick - International Teaser Poster

29 November 2012 10:50 AM, PST | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

I think this is the first thing we've seen from the new Riddick movie that wasn't released by Vin Diesel or director David Twohy. I'm excited to see the story of this character continue! I hope it ends up being awesome and a box office success so they will make more of them!

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a »

Cate, Angelina, Charlize -- Why Oscar winners know 'Evil Queen' is the way to go

28 November 2012 12:54 PM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Win an Oscar, become evil?

That seems to be the new trend with the news that Cate Blanchett may be playing the Evil Stepmother in a Cinderella remake. She joins Angelina Jolie, who will be portraying Maleficent in an upcoming Sleeping Beauty film, and Charlize Theron and Julia Roberts, who this year both starred as the Evil Queen in Snow White movies.

It’s tempting to say that this is a sad commentary on the roles for 35-plus women in Hollywood who can no longer play “The Girlfriend.” As Tina Fey wrote, “The definition of ‘crazy’ in show business is »
