4 New Dracula Untold Images Featuring Luke Evans as Vlad/Dracula

15 July 2014 9:00 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

We may have seen our fair share of Dracula movies, but on October 17th, we’re getting a brand new spin on the legend in Gary Shore’s Dracula Untold.  Luke Evans leads as Vlad.  At the start, all is well in Transylvania, but then Mehmet II (Dominic Cooper) and his troops move in and demand that the Transylvanians give up 1,000 boys for their army, including Vlad’s own son, Ingeras (Art Parkinson).  In an effort to save them all, Vlad resorts to desperate measures  – he becomes a vampire. To go along with our visit to the film’s Belfast, Ireland set, Universal has unveiled two new official stills from the film and two behind the scenes shots.  We’ve got Shore and Evans working on a scene in The Great Hall, an image of Vlad embracing his son and more.  Hit the jump to take a look at all »

'Dracula Untold': Luke Evans has his 'own fangs' - but can he kill as a leading man?

15 July 2014 9:00 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

If nothing else, Luke Evans has one distinct physical attribute that makes him the perfect choice to play Dracula. “I have my own fangs,” jokes the actor on the set of forthcoming origin actioner “Dracula Untold.” And he does – look at any photo where the “Fast & Furious 6” baddie is showing his teeth and you’ll notice his prominent canines immediately. Fortuitous? Certainly. But of course, his pearlies aren’t what bagged him the part. Being Luke Evans did. The Welsh actor has been such a ubiquitous big-screen presence over the last several years that it’s easy to forget that his first major Hollywood film, 2010’s “Clash of the Titans,” is only four years old.  Since then he’s racked up quite an impressive resume, from Paul W.S. Anderson’s “Three Musketeers” to sword-n-sandals actioner “Immortals” to “F&F 6” to his role as the Bard in the last two »

Canada Day was two days ago, but it should probably be officially extended in order to celebrate the 30th birthday of Corey Sevier. He got his start as a child star, best known as Timmy for two seasons on the 1997 series remake of Lassie, and as Dan for two seasons on the series Little Men, but his adult career has been steadily growing, both on TV and the big screen

First Trailer for Dracula Untold Released Starring The Hobbit’s Luke Evans

28 June 2014 11:39 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Like a lot of iconic movie monsters, Dracula has had a rough time of it over recent years, with one of his most recent live-action adaptations – the NBC television series which starred Jonathan Rhys Meyers – lasting only a single season before being cancelled due to low ratings and a tepid critical response.

Perhaps then it’s for the best that Dracula Untold is taking the vampire back to basics as it strives to deliver a very different take on his early years. In this movie, the focus will be on Vlad Tepes (Luke Evans) as he strikes a deal a deal with dark forces in order to protect his family and protect his homeland.

Will we see his descent into the blood sucking villain that we all know so well from previous movies, or could the studio be looking at Dracula Untold as the first in a series of movies exploring Dracula’s early years? »

First Trailer for Dracula Untold Goes the Action Route

27 June 2014 12:47 PM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

Just last week, Universal pictures debuted a pair of movie posters for their upcoming Dracula Untold, and they were pretty decent looking.  It's a new and different take on the traditional vampire movie, incorporating the "history" of Vlad Tepish, with the mythology of the Dracula we all know.  Today, they've debuted (officially) the first trailer for the movie, and it looks more like an action film than anything else.

It's not necessarily a bad trailer...it's just kind of generic.  In all honesty this looks like it could be any kind of medieval fantasy movie, and the only reason vampires are in it is because it's got Dracula in the title.  Because of this, I'm a little wary of this film.  While I'm all about new kinds of vampire movies, I want them to be good ones.  This first trailer feels way too generic, and shows off nothing of why it should stand apart. »

Dracula Untold Trailer: Luke Evans Stars in the Origin Story of the World’s Most Famous Vampire

27 June 2014 6:52 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Universal has released the first Dracula Untold trailer.  The movie tells the origins of the man who would become the infamous vampire.  This trailer goes beyond the scant logline, and explains that Dracula started out as a good guy, but in order to protect his family, he had to become the bloodsucking bad guy we all know today.  It looks more interesting than I thought it would be, and I really like the costumes.  At the very least, there seems to be some potential for a good story rather than just pretty visual effects and cashing in on the brand. Hit the jump to check out the Dracula Untold trailer plus five new images.  The film opens October 17th, and stars Luke Evans, Sarah Gadon, Diarmaid Murtagh, and Dominic Cooper. ‘Sadhu’ Movie Going Forward With Director Mukunda Michael Dewil

18 June 2014 10:29 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

“300″ producer Mark Canton (pictured above) and Graphic India are moving forward on superhero movie “The Sadhu,” bringing on “Vehicle 19″ director Mukunda Michael Dewil to direct from his own script.

The project, focusing on a 19th century British soldier trained in supernatural arts by hermits known as sadhus, was unveiled in March.

Graphic India co-founders Sharad Devarajan and Gotham Chopra will produce alongside Canton and David Hopwood.

The story mirrors Dewil’s own life. During his late 20s he left his lucrative job at Ogilvy Advertising in South Africa to live with the sadhus of Vrindavan, India.

“Besides his evident skills as a filmmaker, Mukunda has life experiences so close to what’s in the graphic novels that he is the perfect fit for our project,” Hopwood said.

Dewil directed action-thriller “Vehicle 19,” starring Paul Walker, from his own script. He also directed 2011′s “Retribution.”

Luke Evans Gets Medieval in First Posters for Dracula Untold

17 June 2014 10:02 AM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

Universal Pictures has been keen on kickstarting their beloved "monster" movie properties for a while now.  Their Werewolf reboot didn't do so hot, and recently they've lost another director for The Mummy remake, so things seem to be a little rocky right now.  At least one thing is moving forward as planned, and that's their new take on the classic Dracula story.  They've released a pair of new posters for you to enjoy, so come in and check them out.

Vampires have always been fascinating to people, and in pop culture they've become a big deal and have remained so for the last several years.  Hollywood's love affair with the creatures of the night started with Universal's Dracula films, and they're hoping to recapture audiences interest with this new take on the iconic Count.  This isn't the same story, instead it's a blend of historical facts (dealing with Vlad the »
