One of the best WCW events I have ever seen, period!.
21 July 2010 | by (victoria b.c canada) – See all my reviews

Superbrawl II is a treat for die-hard wrestling fanatics because this one has almost everything!. To Jessie Ventura's commentating debut, to classic tag-team wrestling, to many other memorable debuts, it has it all. The main-event is a little lacking, but everything else is pretty much fantastic.

Your hosts are. Jessie Ventura and Jim Ross.

WCW Light Heavyweight Championship.

Jushin Liger|C| Vs Brian Pillman. Simply put, one of the greatest Cruiserweight title bouts, I have ever seen. The spots Liger and Pillman do here, especially Liger are mind-blowing, and even Ventura was amazed. Not very often am I on the edge of my seat for a Wrestling match, but this one provided me with just that. Pillman wins the title. Both embrace afterwords with a respect showing.

5/5

Marcus Bagwell Vs Terry Taylor. For the short time span it had, it wasn't too shabby at all. Number of decent spots, and Taylor was a reliable veteran. Bagwell gets the fluke victory, much to Ventura's dismay.

2 1/2 /5

Ron Simmons Vs Cactus Jack. Again. Not bad for the time span it had, the two delivered as best as they could. For 6 minutes, this is as good as it gets. Simmons wins.

2 1/2 /5

Van Hammer and Tom Zenk Vs Richard Morton and Vinnie Vegas|Kevin Nash|.Crowd is rabid for Van Hammer. Solid tag-team wrestling here all the way. Nash wasn't always a lazy bastard, and everything just seemed to flow well. The faces win.

3/5

Barry Windham and Dustin Rhodes Vs Steve Austin and Larry Zbyszko. Yet another great Tag-Team contest here. 4 great wrestlers just doing their thing, with many exciting near falls. The faces win.

3 1/2 /5

WCW World Tag Team Championship.

Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton|C| Vs The Steiners. Jessie cracks jokes about The Steiner's incompetence and how Michigan is a waste throughout the match. Another great Tag-Team bout here, which is gladly for me the theme of the night. Steiner's seemingly win the belts, but get disqualified due to the heels tactics.

3 1/2 /5

WCW United States Heavyweight Championship.

Rick Rude|C| Vs Ricky Steamboat. The heat Rude draws is unbelievable!. So many boo's, he could barely get a word out for a while, now that's a good heel!. My 2nd favorite match of the night, just real classic wrestling. Some complained that it was too slow, for me it was just perfect. I was on the edge of my seat throughout, and loved the finish of the match. Rude retains when Paul E. Dangerously|Heyman| attacks Steamboat in a Ninja outfit.

4/5

WCW Championship.

Lex Luger|C| Vs Sting. BIG pop for Sting. Not bad, but pales in comparison to most of the card. This was supposed to be the best one, but they just couldn't deliver like the rest. 13 minutes wasn't long enough, and Luger seemed to be going through the motions, due to leaving for WWF soon after. Stinger wins the Championship with a cross body off the top-rope.

2 1/2 /5

Bottom line. Not only one of the best WCW events I've ever seen, but one of the best Wrestling events period. So much excitement, its honestly crazy. There is not one bad thing on this card, everything has something worthy about it. I give this the highest recommendation I can give.

9 1/2 /10
