Storyline

In the series finally, the Atlantis team is contacted by none other than their old friend Todd the Wraith who tells them an underling has marooned him on a planet and taken over the Wraith hive ship. As if that weren't bad enough, the hive ship is now powered by a ZPM and the super-energy source is transforming the craft into an invincible weapon. While those on Atlantis try to destroy the ship, it jumps to hyperspace and has a very clear destination in mind: Earth. Sheppard is recalled home to man their best defense while Teyla, Ronon and McKay find themselves battling the Wraith from within their ship. In the end, Atlantis must travel to Earth for the final battle. Written by garykmcd

Trivia

The Swedish airing of the series finale was planned to follow the previous weeks episode as scheduled, on it's normal time-slot at Friday 9pm February 6th 2009, but got canceled during the preceding days, due to the fact that the tapes had not been delivered from USA on time. The finale never aired during the following weeks regular time-slot, but instead premiered as a finale of the first completed rerun of the show, on Tuesday February 24th 2009, during the weekdays rerun time-slot 5pm. This outraged many viewers, some who didn't follow the reruns and knew it' would air at all during that time-slot, but instead waited for the premiere during the channels normal 'Friday Sci-Fi' time-slot, and of those who knew of the premiere during the rerun time-slot, many had no chance of watching it that early in the evening. Nevertheless, the finale ended up getting more viewers then what was normal for both the normal Friday night time-slot, and the weekdays afternoon re-run time-slot. See more »

A fantastic end to an amazing series
18 January 2009 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

it is a crying shame that this series has been cancelled but this was an excellent ending to the show. It was very well scripted, the whole story came together nicely calling upon a whole string of previous story lines and references. I particularly liked the end scene which was a nice nod in the direction of the star trek franchise. This show has been both a great success in terms to sci fi with great story lines and an great sense of humour which is not easy to achieve. I am glad they did not leave it as a cliff hanger for the movie and look forward to the arrival of said movie. I would much rather of had at least 2 more seasons out of these characters.
