Jennifer Connelly Will Tell 'A Winter's Tale'

It seems Jennifer Connelly has been out of the spotlight a bit for the last few years, mostly thanks to a string of movies -- "Creation," "Virginia," "The Dilemma," "Salvation Boulevard" -- that just did nothing for her. But she seems to be on the rebound. Of course, she booked a ticket on board Darren Aronofsky's "Noah" and now she's set to reunite with the writer of one of her career highlights, "A Beautiful Mind." Connelly is in talks to take a role in Akiva Goldsman's directorial debut "A Winter's Tale." Based on the acclaimed 1983 novel by Mark Helprin, the story follows a thief (Colin Farrell) who breaks into a wealthy man’s (William Hurt) home, sparking a relationship with the man’s terminally ill daughter (Jessica Brown Findlay) with reincarnation, a flying horse, and a time-shift of 100 years all playing a part in the plot. Matt Bomer and Lucy Griffiths will play.

Comedy "Salvation Boulevard" Spends So Much Time Preaching That it Forgets to be Funny

Religious hypocrisy and zealotry both make for easy targets in comedy, and Director George Ratliff makes quick work of it all in Salvation Boulevard, his takedown piece on super church ministers which benefits immensely from a characteristically slimy performance by Pierce Brosnan in the role. While I sympathize with his clear loathing for the increasingly common occurrence of overly powerful religious personalities and the impressionable sheep that flock to them, his narrow focus on that agenda blinded him from ever throwing anything genuinely funny into his supposed comedy. While we might smirk at Jennifer Connelly’s unthinking devotion to the corrupt minister, Greg Kinnear’s typically flustered characterization of a man in over his head, or Marisa Tomei as a Grateful Dead acolyte, rarely do any of these things elicit anything more than that.

'Orphan' Star Isabelle Fuhrman To Lead David Gordon Green's 'Suspiria' Remake

We're about to move towards yet another act of David Gordon Green's career. The filmmaker started off with "George Washington," "All The Real Girls" and "Undertow" as a possible heir to Terrence Malick's meditative indie throne, but took a severe left-turn about five years back into abrasive stoner comedy, a shift which had both its successes ("Pineapple Express," "Eastbound & Down") and failures ("Your Highness," "The Sitter"). But for now, it seems, the director is about to try something new, and move into the horror world for his long-gestating remake of Dario Argento's horror classic "Suspiria."

And on the back of recent news that the film was financed, and moving towards a shoot in September, it looks like the director has his lead. Back in the day, the project was intended to star Natalie Portman, but between her Oscar victory for the similarly-themed "Black Swan" and her new motherhood,

Jennifer Connelly To Re-Team With Darren Aronofsky For ‘Noah’; Saoirse Ronan Wanted

Jennifer Connelly To Re-Team With Darren Aronofsky For ‘Noah’; Saoirse Ronan Wanted
With a release date finally set and a lead secured, more casting is coming in for Darren Aronofsky‘s big-budget, edgy re-telling of the Noah story. The Tracking Board is reporting that Aronofsky’s Requiem For a Dream star Jennifer Connelly has begun negotiations to take the female lead in the film. She would play Russell Crowe‘s wife, Naameh. This would also mark another re-team for the actress, after playing Crowe’s love interest in A Beautiful Mind.

Reports also indicate that Paramount wants Saoirse Ronan for a supporting role. If I recall from my early Sunday school days, Noah had three sons who each had wives. Considering there aren’t many other human characters in this story, I’d have to assume she’d be considering one of those roles.

Aronofsky wrote the screenplay with Ari Mandel, deciding to portray the titular Biblical hero as “a man who
