A Good Tale of Greedy
15 January 2010 | by (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) – See all my reviews

After a long period in prison, Willie Evans (Jeremy Sisto) is released on probation and promises a straight life to his wife Karen (Samantha Mathis). However, during the night, his former cell mate Barney (Christopher Morris) that had lived with Karen for a period appears in their trailer bleeding. He tells that he had participated in the heist of 3.5 million dollar in new marked bills with four other criminals and their leader had hidden the money and given one quarter of the map to each hoodlum. One of them, Keenan (Peter O'Brien) offered cash in advance to Barney for his quarter of the map; but he betrayed Barney shooting him on the stomach. Then Barney gives his share to Willie and dies; however Willie does not call the police and buries his body. He decides to find Keenan and take his quarter of the map, but things go wrong along the tragic night.

"The Fifth Quarter" is one of the best tales of this series, with the cult actor Jeremy Sisto performing a small time bandit that seems doomed to spend his life in jail. Samantha Mathis is perfect in the role of a still beautiful woman with a very hard life raising her son alone in a trailer and having a lousy job. There is no moral in the end of this good tale of greedy. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil): "O Mapa" ("The Map")
