Check Out The Rousing Prologue Trailer For If I Stay, With Chloë Grace Moretz

6 June 2014 8:11 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

With five-hankie romance The Fault in Our Stars set to crush Tom Cruise’s sci-fi vehicle Edge of Tomorrow at the box office this weekend, Ya adaptations have perhaps never packed more force in Hollywood than they do right now. And though Fault, starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, was undoubtedly the most anticipated adaptation that is hitting screens this summer, another beloved teen-targeted novel is making the trip to the big screen in August: Gayle Forman’s If I Stay.

Fans of the bestseller were vocally worried when Kick-Ass actress Chloë Grace Moretz was cast in the role of Mia, a 17-year-old musician who is faced with the toughest decision of her life when her entire family is killed and she’s left in a coma after a car crash. Turns out, they should have never doubted the talented young star. In the new trailer for If I Stay, »

'Guardians of the Galaxy' Will Have Shifting Aspect Ratios in IMAX 3D

5 June 2014 4:29 PM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

James Gunn revealed in a Facebook post his upcoming film, Guardians of the Galaxy will include shifting aspect ratios during the IMAX 3D presentation of the film, almost certainly in an effort to improve the look of the 3D, in an attempt to give the audience a more immersive experience. Just got out of working on the Guardians cut for IMAX 3D and I'm unbelievably excited about it. Guardians of the Galaxy has been planned as a 3D film from its very inception. Yes, if you see the film in 2D, you'll get a full experience. But the 3D experience promises a little something extra. Unlike many directors, I've been actively involved with converting every shot to 3D, making sure it works perfectly for the story and the film, making sure it's spectacular and immersive without being silly, distracting, or overly showy. 3D conversion was once far inferior to shooting in 3D, »

In the sequel to 2010's have-a-go hit, the antics of nerd-turned-superhero Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) have inspired a whole gang of would-be vigilantes, including Jim Carrey's Colonel Stars and Stripes. Meanwhile, teenage butt-kickess Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) opts for the quiet life, only to be rudely awoken with the return of Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) - now reinvented as The Mother F***er - seeking to avenge the death of his father. Review: Adequate Thriller 'Anna' Starring Mark Strong & Taissa Farmiga

3 June 2014 10:30 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

It is no spoiler to say that actor Noah Taylor pops up in a key role late in the adequate-at-best, occasionally involving thriller “Anna.” Like all of the appearances of the rail-thin “Shine” star, it is a welcome one; look no further than his recent work on “Game of Thrones” or his wonderfully obnoxious supporting role in Richard Ayoade’s 2014 masterpiece “The Double.” What is particularly fascinating about Taylor’s appearance in “Anna,” however, is that it underscores how a film like this one could be better. Mark Strong, the dependably intense villain in so many films of the last decade—“Sherlock Holmes,” “John Carter,” “Green Lantern,” “Kick-Ass”—is the lead in “Anna,” and while he gives a fine performance, as usual, the role of a “memory detective” haunted by the death of his wife would have been infinitely more interesting if played by…someone like Noah Taylor. Watch: 35-Minute Cannes Press Conference For 'Clouds Of Sils Maria' With Juliette Binoche, Chloë Moretz & More

27 May 2014 6:41 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

The last tidbits from Cannes are still rolling in, even as the Croisette itself now looks like the opening scenes of “28 Days Later” (presumably). Last to screen in the Palme d'Or competition, and hence the focus of various final press appearances, was Olivier Assayas' “Clouds of Sils Maria," which has had a mixed but interested reception: it ultimately failed to pick up any prizes, and Playlister Jessica Kiang seems to think that was fair.Friday at Cannes saw the film gets its big press conference, featuring Assayas, stars Juliette Binoche and Chloë Grace Moretz (somewhat teased with an intro that focuses on her MTV Awards arising from the “Kick-Ass” franchise), supporting player Lars Eidinger and the film's producer. Notably absent was the film's other big player, Kristen Stewart, but you can insert your own joke about her being too laid-back to make it.In the film, Binoche plays an »

'The Equalizer' International Trailer: Denzel Washington takes out 5 guys in 19 seconds

26 May 2014 1:37 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

"He didn't take out five pimps. He took out the East Coast hub of the Russian mafia." Eee-uh-oh. Denzel Washington takes the law into his own hands - again - in the very first international trailer for "The Equalizer," a new "Falling Down"-meets-"Taken"-meets-"Man on Fire"-meets-"Death Wish"-meets-"Taxi Driver"-style male-rage actioner from Antoine Fuqua, who previously directed Denzel to an Oscar win in the 2001 police thriller "Training Day." The film is based on the '80s TV series of the same name starring Edward Woodward. This time around, the two-time Academy Award winner takes on all of organized crime after witnessing the brutal beating of a young prostitute played by Chloe Grace Moretz ("Carrie," "Kick-Ass"). Luckily for him he's got "military training" on his side, meaning he's capable of dispatching a roomful of gangsters in just over 19 seconds while barely breaking a sweat. »

It’s taken a while, and was expected a fair few weeks ago, but the first trailer for The Equalizer is finally here! The movie remake of the TV series which ran from 1985 – 1989 and starred the late Edward Woodward. Along with Denzel Washington, it stars up and coming Kick-Ass actress Chloe Grace Moretz.

The Equalizer will see Washington and director Antoine Fuqua reteam after previously working together on Training Day over a decade ago in 2001.

This first sneak peek at the movie doesn’t offer up a lot more in terms of plot details than the synopsis below, but it does highlight some great action sequences and the fact that the lead actor is once again playing a stone cold tough guy who will do whatever necessary. In short, it looks like a lot of fun!

The actor Chloë Grace Moretz, best known for her role as Hit Girl in the Kick-Ass films, has praised French cinema for innovation superior to that found in the Us. Speaking at the Cannes film festival, where she co-stars in a new film from French director Olivier Assayes, Moretz, 17, said that movies made in France were "so much more innovative  new and alive and raw, which we can't quite capture in America yet".

Moretz co-stars in Clouds of Sils Maria as a hell-raising teen idol, famed for her complicated love-life, loose tongue and lead role in an X-Men-style superhero movie. Questioned about what it was like to mock a genre from which she has profited, Moretz said it was "an interesting juxtaposition act, »
