Trivia

Anthony Edwards agreed to return for this episode on the condition that his salary would be donated to his favorite charity. Producers agreed, and donated his salary, and matched it with their own money. Steven Spielberg, the Executive Producer, also heard about this agreement. He matched the contribution as well. Goofs

When Dr. Gates drops the service record for SFC Gonzalez, it shows his picture wearing the Army Class-A uniform with the proper rank, but the beret is the Army standard black instead of the Airborne maroon beret. Also, the service record (shown very briefly) is of an officer (O-3), likely a Marine Captain based upon the MCAS unit designation and various awards. See more »

Amazing Work
7 April 2009 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

If you watched ER from the beginning, you know how instrumental Anthony Edwards was to this show. His character, Mark Greene, died from cancer at the end of season 8, but he was brought back during the show's final season in this episode. As usual, the writers and producers did an outstanding job incorporating his story (as a flashback involving his long-ago interaction with one of the current doctors) into the current story lines.

The final season of ER will go down as one of the best years of any TV series I've ever watched, and this episode (along with the finale) was one of the highlights!
