Goodbye, My Friend was another hilarious episode of "30 Rock"
tavm17 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode, Jack bonds with Frank as they and the other writers watch Harry and the Hendersons when they find out their fathers abandoned them as children, Liz bonds with a pregnant donut shop registrar hoping to adopt her baby when it's born, Kenneth gives Tracy his first birthday party and makes Jenna share it with her actual one, and besides Frank, Pete and even the long absent Josh have roles! I'll stop there and say this was another hilarious episode of "30 Rock" that mixes the plots of both Juno and that other movie I mentioned to wonderful effect especially when the star of that latter film, John Lithgow, makes a cameo here. Also good in her brief role was Patti LuPone as Frank's mother. And seeing Tracy Morgan and Jane Krakowski in their wacky situations was pure gold! So on that note, I highly recommend this "Goodbye, My Friend" episode of "30 Rock".

The Quest for Liz's Baby Continues!
g-bodyl29 November 2014
This is the thirteenth episode of the third season of 30 Rock and it was a pretty good episode. I'm not sure how they successfully made an episode with a theme based off Harry and the Hendersons, but I liked it. I also liked the subplot with Liz as she creates another harebrained idea to adopt a child. The jokes are funny, especially the inside joke starring John Lithgow.

In this episode, "Goodbye, My Friend," Liz tries to adopt a child off a teen who works at a donut store. Kenneth comes up with the idea to celebrate Tracy's and Jenna's birthday on the same day much to the dismay of Jenna. Finally, Jack convinces Frank to go to law school though Frank's mother thinks else wise.

Overall, this is actually a much better episode than I thought it would be, based off reading the synopsis. As always, the jokes effectively carry the show. I rate this episode 9/10.

Goodbye, My Friend (#3.13)

Warning: Spoilers
Liz meets a pregnant girl who has issues with her baby's dad and tries to bond with her to adopt the baby. And Jack bonds with Frank and wants to get him back to law school until he finds out the scary truth about his father. Turns out Tracy has never had a birthday party so Kenneth tries to make one for him on Jenna's birthday which makes Jenna upset.

I really liked the story about Liz and the pregnant girl. Liz on the quest of getting a baby is pretty hilarious, and I liked how they put in a joke of Liz being cool. Same as the whole music that Becca was doing.

The story about Jack and Frank is a big win too. It is great to see Frank a bit out of character. Glad they let Judah Frielander expand a little bit. And Patti LuPone who played his mother did a great job as well. I actually felt very bad for Frank at the end when Jack chases him away because he wants the best for him.

John Lithgow wondering around the building was a nice joke as well.

Third Rock meets 30 Rock

Warning: Spoilers
3rd Rock from the Sun star John Lithgow appears in this hilarious episode of 30 Rock in two guises, as himself and as Mr Henderson from Harry and the Hendersons. The way the Harry and the Hendersons was played into Frank's desire to return to law school was unpredictably moving, which connected to Liz's desire to adopt.
