The scenes of Iraqis surrendering and being turned away was shot near Walvis Bay Airport, and filming was constantly stopping and starting over because of interference from planes landing. The train track at the location was also much busier than the filmmakers had been led to believe.
Ray Person sometimes states that he was in a band. At minute 53 he says "When my band opened up for Limp Bizkit, in Kansas City. The only difference is they became famous and I became a marine". In real life the actor James Ranson was the bass player in NYC's metal band "Early Man" but ironically it's just the other way round: "Early Man" didn't get a big audience (5 albums in 10 years) while James Ransone appeared in about 17 films and is on the cover of the Generation Kill DVD.
