The report that we see Captain Winters typing up in this episode was unique in that it never used the word "I". Winters wanted all the credit to go to the men of Easy Company, not himself.
Sergeant Guarnere is seen limping in this episode. He had stolen a motorcycle and had been shot by a sniper whilst riding it. Guarnere had been shipped back to England to recover.
When Winters is on leave in Paris, the coins used in the café and on the train are Danish coins in use today.
The movie that the men of Easy Company are seen watching is Seven Sinners (1940) starring Marlene Dietrich and John Wayne. As mentioned by one of the lieutenants Marlene was in Paris at this time doing a USO show.
40 members of the cast had to go through a ten day bootcamp in which they were called by their roles in the series. Their boot camp instructor, Captain Dale Dye, was also in charge of doing the bootcamp for the main cast of Saving Private Ryan. Dye played the role of Colonel Robert Sink in the series, and a Colonel in the war department in the film.
Jimmy Fallon: The Lieutenant who brings in ammunition from a supply drop toward the end of the episode. In an interview, Jimmy said he did not know how to drive the jeep. You will see soldiers pushing it as Jimmy steers.
Tom Hanks: In the scene where the Red Devils toast the 101st Airborne, when the camera shows the assembled soldiers you'll see him playing one of the Red Devils wearing a beret at the back left (5 or 6 men in) with his right hand on his hip. His head moves forwards to become obscured behind another soldier.
